Since Las Vegas is a relatively young city, most of the cemeteries in the valley are less than 50 years old. I am currently concentrating my efforts on Palm Valley View Memorial Park, a large, beautiful cemetery that straddles the border of Las Vegas and Henderson.|
I believe that the history of any community is comprised of the stories of each and every one of its inhabitants. It is immaterial whether the person was the city's mayor or a dishwasher; every piece of this human mosaic is an integral part of the historical perspective. I am committed to preserving this history by creating entries that include a bio along with the photo of the person's headstone or marker. I hope that my efforts will eventually become a valuable resource for those who are exploring the history of the Las Vegas Valley, as well as for those who are researching their personal family histories.
When creating a memorial entry, I usually start with a photo of the headstone. I then attempt to find obituaries or news stories related to the person's life. The online archives of the local paper only go back to 1991, however, so often I come up empty-handed. Whatever info I can find goes into creating the memorial entry. (Note: I have obtained permission from both of my local newspapers to use published obituaries as long as I attribute the source).
I consider my entries to be "works in progress" and welcome any suggestions that you might have that will enhance an entry. However, I appreciate your patience while waiting for me to respond. Due to the high volume of entries that I have created to date, I receive several letters a day suggesting changes or requesting management transfers. I respond as promptly as I am able. After 30 days, if you haven't received a response from me please contact me again - it's possible that your request fell through the cracks somehow.
I work in a cyclical business (the convention industry) and there are times when I am required to work as much as 60 hours a week. I catch up on the SACs I receive once things return to normal at work.
Please hesitate before trying to cultivate a critical or malicious environment here because of a perceived slight. No slight is ever intended.
I do not adhere strictly to Find-A-Grave's transfer criteria. Any reasonable request will be considered. However, please determine whether you really need to manage an entry before you make a transfer request. For example, one does not need to manage every entry of a particular surname; the virtual cemetery feature allows one to keep track of these sorts of entries.
I will not respond to transfer requests posted on this page. Please follow the proper transfer request procedures so that I receive an email containing links to the memorials you would like to manage.
If you are requesting that I add additional information, please reference the source from which the info was obtained(Veterans Administration records, obituaries, Social Security Death Index, census records, family records, etc.). I strive to make my entries as accurate and inclusive as possible. If I add suggested info into an entry that I manage, I will reference the source. Please do not ask me to add info that is not verifiable. Example: a contributor recently asked me to link two people as married simply because they were interred in the same crypt. Research revealed that they were actually mother and son, not husband and wife.
Please do not submit bios or obituaries that sensationalize the tragic circumstances of a person's passing. I do not believe these lurid and violent details belong on this web site.
I decline to give permission to use my photos for resale, for profit, or to upload to a different web site.

Hi. I got your message about not wanting to transfer my Uncle and Aunt. I'm concerned about your harsh statements when you don't even know me or what I've been through. I've already been punished at length by F.A.G. admin. who had misunderstood what was going on. I told them I'd turn off my messages because of haters (which I did not provoke) and tried to keep at bay by kindness. I just don't need that kind of negativity.
I only ask for transfers on relatives I have info about so more can read about their history and ask those who WANT to transfer people they are NOT related to on F.A.G. There are many contributors who wish for relatives to find their kin. I transfer memorials to people and LOVE to!! Also, I get so many compliments for having personalized memorials and not just having made them "basic" to hoard them.
Most contributors contact me through the memorial they are giving info to me about. I've never had a complaint until now. I was considering turning back on my messages, but now I am afraid to after your message. I am sorry as something horrible must have happened to you as I read it your hurting tone.
Just know I dearly loved my Aunt Sylvia and Uncle Don and I Googled their names a bunch of times in November 2011 and nothing came up--not even your F.A.G. memorials. Another contributor in F.A.G. even helped me in 2011 by finding my Uncle's obit and he said it was never on F.A.G. too. I made some for them and then found yours a few months ago having been done in 2007. It just doesn't make sense. I don't understand how this happened.
Often, my messages to contributors are hacked by haters who contact the contributors to crap on me. I am between a rock and a hard place when it comes to email contacts or messages.
I figured I wouldn't get their memorials but thought I'd try and ask anyway. I hope your life goes better and blessings come your way so "paying it forward" isn't too far off in the distance...One day I hope my memorial is maintained by someone who loved me and not someone who just created it and keeps it from relatives. Here's a link to what has happened to me by the powerful haters I've dealt with for years. Maybe you'll understand why I have to keep as low as possible. http://members.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=purplerocksd
Have a great day.
Thank you for placing the death information for my sister-in-law Anna Dell'Aira on find a grave.
As a member of the family, I would appreciate it if you remove the obituary as there is too much information on living family members.
As a genealogist, I know that you will respect the privacy of the living.

I added a memorial and photo for Rick Wiebe, dod 1978 and noticed you have a memorial for Ronnie Wiebe. I could find no information at the cemetery on Rick Wiebe and wondered if you have more, such as complete dates that I can possible include.
Thank you for giving me control over my grandmothers page. All of it, adding her and giving her back to to me is so very kind of you. Thank you again. Alex

You may reference the family in the census of 1920. Margaret is the sister of Grace Howell, also buried at Woodlawn. Her maiden name is Howell and Mary Belle was her daughter. I knew them personally. Their father was Ernest as was their brother and their mother was Mary.
See the request is now taken down. For Olaf Olsen, I went to Mt Olive today and inquired. Only brought the years with me as indicated on photo request. The Office said today when I inquired they need the month also with year passed. If still would like, next time I will bring that info with me to get a picture. Barb

Thank you for creating this memorial page for my father's cousin. Again, I was wondering if management of the memorial could be transferred to my findagrave account.
Thanks for your consideration,
|Sam Orlando||James H Orlando|
I would like to thank you for taking the photo of my grandfather's brother's headstone. If it isn't too much to ask, I was wondering if you would be able to transfer the management of the memorial to me? I would like to link him to his parents, Sam Orlando Sr, and Anna Orlando nee Engers.
