After discovering Find A Grave, I've become hooked. It's so true: "you can't do just one."|
If you have any corrections, links or additions, let me know through the "edit" tab which is on the top right of the memorial page. I try to be perfect, but so far....:o(
Please feel free to use any of my cemetery or headstone photos for whatever purpose.
TRANSFERRING Management: To be fair to all, I follow Find-A-Grave's guidelines.
"Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren."
Just use the "edit" tab and let me know how you are related and your FAG contributor number.
RESEARCHING: I am looking for parents and/or siblings of Austin Goodwin Broton [aka Broughton, Brotton, Button, Brayton] (1856-1946). He's my great grandfather and a bit of a mystery. His mother may have been a Goodwin, born in Scotland and died in New York about 1870...we think.
Most importantly...have fun!

I don't know her name but she started a Facebook page called Oroville Riverview Cemetery Clean Up, so if you belong to Facebook you might want to take a look.
We live about 300 miles from Orville and probably won't get back that way any time soon otherwise we could look for his marker. Hopefully a group of locals will adopt the cemetery and try to keep the markers uncovered. It's a real shame.

We can't take credit for cleaning the memorial. In 2012 a high school student took on the cemetery as her Senior Project. She, and a few volunteers, cleaned up around a lot of the markers. Luckily we were able to photograph most of the markers before mother nature takes them over again.
The cemetery itself is well maintained but they won't take care of the edges around the markers. There is a sign that states it is the responsibility of family members. Obviously that becomes impossible at some point so a lot of markers are completely covered now with sod.

Thank you for photographing my husband's great-uncle Howell's gravestone. I didn't know what cemetery he and Susie were buried in and hadn't looked for him in awhile. I appreciate you adding links and information for me!

Hello, I am sure you have all info I have, along with much more, but wanted to mention just in case...
So, Austin was a child of Asa Brayton born in Edwards, St. Lawrence and is in the 1860 census of the same with parents and siblings. Gideon, Sophia. Samantha, etc.
If this is the same Austin, he may have either legally, or by chance, changed the spelling of his last name, as this often happened in that time. Sometimes, it was just written wrong and then kept that way...etc. I don't know for fact, but have seen this many times within our own tree and family lines.
Also. In not being sure of his parents - they both died in 1863 in New York, Pitcairn, as did many of the family. Some tragic disease-small pox, or something. So, as he was so young would have needed care by someone other than his birth parents.
I am unsure if this helps, or is not what you are searching for, but am curious as well. If you would update me if you learn who his parents are, &/or if this might be the situation. What disease the succumbed too- I would love to be made aware!
Roots web also has some information on this family, as dies the history of Pitcairn, NY.
In sharing research info I feel we can all learn and benefit! Sometimes it confirms one way or another which piece of info pertains,...
Good luck & keep me posted!
Thank you for the flowers!

Happy to help. I'm quite proud of my Farnsworth ancestors. And, very lucky to have a photo of my gtgtgrfather Wm Farmsworth 1825-1919. It is from a tintype owned by a cousin in Michigan. My Wm lived in Washington County, OH before moving to his daughter's near Fostoria, Mich. before 1900.

|DaveC||RE: Farnsworth Family|
I checked ancestry.com and found Marie 1905-1941 of Solano, Calif as dau of Oliver Frank Farmsworth 1868-1937 and his wife Bertha C Lambert 1878-1972. Oliver was son of William A Farnsworth 1847-1882 and his wife Louvisa Harter 1841-1910. He was son of William Farnsworth 1814-1897 and his wife Sarah Ann Moore 1817-1871. He was son of Aaron Farnsworth 1783-1859 and Ann Stout 1789-1871. Aaron lived in New Jersey. I don't connect to my line, but suspect he does somewhere as my immigrant ancestor, Thomas Farnsworth, 1647-1693 lived in Chesterfield, NJ and came from Mansfield, Nottingham, England. Hope this helps. Dave C.

Newton's birth father was William Harrison Dennison and Newton became the step-son of John Brooks Beeson after his father died in 1846 and his mother remarried Beeson in 1850.
