I have been doing genealogy for many years, and I suppose I can blame that on my Father.. He always wanted me to know who I was and where I came from. It was really important to him that I knew who all of my ancestors were.|
I am interested in all of my ancestoral surnames.
Some names are , ~ WALKER ~ GUNTER ~ HAYES ~ HAYS~ ~FULMER ~LEE ~ DRAKE ~ GRAHAM ~ HOLDRIDGE ~ HOULDITCH ~ ~HOLDITCH ~COLEMAN ~ RIDLEHOOVER ~RIDDLEHOOVER ~ McLAUGHLIN ~ COX ~ EVERETTE~ & DRAKE. I am also interested in my husband's names , BRASHER , LENNARD ,CHRISTIAN , JACKSON ,MILLS , MONCRIEF & STEWART
Please Use the edits tab on Memorial. That is the only way I make edits. Thanks

What a nice thing to offer, Kitty, and thank you for thinking of it! However, because of your own kindness and your dedication to Find A Grave, I want to remember you when I visit Mary Virginia Brown's memorial. It will make me smile to see your name as the creator of my cousin's memorial.
I wasn't aware that memorials cannot be deleted without going through Find A Grave so I'm grateful to know that for the next time I accidentally create a duplicate memorial.
I live in North Texas and if there is ever anything I can help you with, all you have to do is ask.
"If You would like to make Your own memorial without My name , that will be o.k. with Me. Just make the new one and transfer old one back to Me and I will delete it.
Find A Grave changed it where We cannot delete memorial unless it is a duplicate and You have to go through them.
You are very welcome. Your kindness goes such a long way.

I can't tell you how much it means to me that you transferred Mary Virginia (Pounds) Lassiter Brown's memorial to me. I didn't find out about her passing until just the other day.
Regrettably, I was never able to meet Mary Virginia in person, but did exchange letters with her over the years. She sent me the picture that I added to her memorial back in 1997. In her last letter to me, she said she was recovering from pneumonia and would write me when she felt better. When, after several months, I didn't hear from her, I decided to google her and found that she had passed away.
Mary Virginia had no children. Her father and my grandmother were born in Iowa. Her father moved to Birmingham and she had virtually no contact with the POUNDS side of her family. My father moved to Nebraska, Kansas and finally, Texas so I had virtually no contact with my POUNDS relatives either. Mary Virginia remembered meeting my grandmother, Vesta (Pounds) Roberts, maybe one time. She wasn't too sure about meeting my father but my Daddy used to talk about a 'Mary Virginia' and had some photos with that name on the back of them so it is possible they did meet many years ago.
I was able to send Mary Virginia information on her POUNDS ancestors for which she was very grateful. Her obituary shows that she had surviving cousins who I'm thinking are from her Mother's side of the family or even descendants of her first husband who died in WWII. I will do some more research. And, if I find a closer cousin who would like to manage her memorial, I will certainly transfer it if they request it.
Mary Virginia was an amazing woman. She very kindly sent me a signed copy of her book "Mother and Me". I wrote her how it reminded me so much of the situation between myself and my own mother in her last years in a nursing home.
So, this is probably more information than you wanted to know, but that is ok. I appreciate your willingness to transfer and also your policy on transfers. I'm glad that you included them in your message to me.
Again, thank you very, very much for the transfer and especially for your many contributions that make Find A Grave such a great site!
I keep running across your name while working on Find a Grave. Thank you for all your work. Just read about New Hope and Boykin Truitt Cemetery in Eden. I did not realize that BT had bought that land for the cemetery. Did know he died in a mine and I met his son Johnny Truitt about placing a marker for an ancestor. I can see at least three graves of direct ancestors in your pictures of the old cemetery: Lacys and Robertson.
Appreciate your time to link Mary and Rosie Nipper to their parents. Good resources for sibling names. Kind regards, Nancy

I was informed that this cemetery is not affiliated with the Baptist church but I think it would take too much time to transfer all 400 memorials to Winterboro Cemetery so I put the 18 back that I had already done.

Hi,Kitty - I certainly understand that! As I get information etc. I'll send edits to you for updating the memorial with anything useful I have. Oddly, as MANY Whitfields as there are/were, I really haven't run into anyone but your family who says they're related --I'm pleased to hear you have have one!
I've found relations through the Bryan-Whitfield connection, but not really any Whitfield cousins, etc. So I'm naturally curious to know a little about the history you have although we have to be careful about sharing info on the internet about the living. I'm curious maybe a little further back so not too much info is put out there. Thanks! Nancy
