Bio and Links
Bio Photo I found Find-A-Grave accidentally, but I love the idea, hope that it always stays free to the public.

If there is something I've posted that you question, or are concerned about; please contact me. I'd like to get the information on the memorial as correct and complete as possible.

I try to use as many sources as possible (that I can get to) to get the information correct; such as Cemetery records, Church Records, Funeral home records, County records, State records, obituaries, & from the families; but I know mistakes can be made. Please let me know.
One problem that comes up a LOT, is duplication; since I work mainly from church records, I have no idea if indeed there are 2 cemeteries; or 1 cemetery with various different names that were used over years; both instances have occurred. But what is the right answer?? I have found 1 person who has two stones in 2 cemetery's in 2 different STATES; but where is the body actually?? Or a different person entirely? I can't tell you because I don't know.

Myself? I am researching for my own inter-related family branches as well; Bahr, Baker, Hays, Keyes, Kussmann, McLaughlin, Meeker, Shaw, Visger, and Walker (up to great-great-grandparents and all their siblings so far).

I found a statement about links that is similar to my own beliefs. Myself? I believe in adding information as found because others might not have that particular detail that will help them. I have requested of Melaney Friesen Shaum to be able to use it and with permission, here it is:

•♥• *ღஜ Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ ஜღ* •♥• *ღஜ Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ ஜღ* •♥•

Let's help the next family member or researcher that visits a memorial by adding all the family links that we know. When family members are not linked, it makes the next person do the research all over again. Also, if we have the information, let's use it before it is forgotten.

I also believe that family links make this site easier to use. The easier it is to use, the more it will be used and the better it will get.

RE: Harrassment
You are confused and so am I. I only sent the thing one time. I am not sure what happened but I would never do that to anyone and I am going to check with Find a grave myself to find out what happened. Thank you for letting me know and I am so sorry that this has happened.
Sincerely
Kathy G.

RE: Permelia
I did re-read the mud and indeed it says she was his wife and that's all anyone will see as they pass by.
One article says she left $85,000 in her will. In any event somebody nice marker which cost some $$$.
Cedar Hill keeps good records and they could shed some light maybe on who bought the lot and marker.
They might charge for the research though. But since i don't have a dog in this fight, I really see nothing else to add here for me. Fred

RE: Permelia
If you read the stone it says that this person was Eds daughter not his widow. I wondered myself about this but just went with it...let me know what you find out...Fred

Shockley family
I have added the info you've given me on the Shockley family. Thanks for poking me on this. I need to be more thorough with my listings.

Are you any relation to the Shockleys? I am.

Thanks again,
Kina

Ala family photo updates
You transcribed much information regarding George Ala who married first to Elizabeth Tansy Stewart and had 3 children, then he married second to Augusta Becker and had 3 more children (1 more I believe is from a previous marriage of Augusta's).

Anyway, my mom's side of the family is the ALA side and I tell you this is hard to find information on this line due to the fact that ALA stands for Alabama in a lot of genealogy records, so when I saw that you actually found the cemetery I was excited. I need to know if George's first wife was buried there. I need to confirm that her middle name was actually "Tansy" and not "Luella". I need to know where she ended up, cuz supposedly she was sick and went with George westward, had consumption and she died early. No one knows where she is buried but according to the memorial page, it looks like the Ala family has several plots, up to 6, so I wonder if she is definitely there too!! That would be so exciting! I would have lots to tell and spread the news to our extended family who have been searching and searching for this line forever. Not sure if it will say much, but Elizabeth's middle name is up for grabs but I am sure it is Tansy and her death location, where'd she end up is anyone's guess.

Any information that you can find would be a great help to me! I have requested some of these actual gravestones to be photographed. Have you ever used billiongraves.com. That site has an APP that you install on your phone or tablet and it uploads actual GPS data, so that now all these cemetery plots can be categorized. I use both this site, which is the original and then the new site with it's technology at billiongraves.com.

Anyway, I wanted you to know that I posted some photos of the Ala family. George Ala and Alfred George Ala. If you are interested, I posted them at their corresponding memorial page.

Take care, I friended you.
Sincerely,
Forrest Pettengill

John and Paul Hoffman
I have added John's obituary, and thank you for providing it. I have also linked his son Paul, plus several more of their children. There's still one child left (Hilda) that I have not yet found. When I find her I will link her to the family.
Thanks again,
Connie
