|PAMELA FENDRYCH||DESCENDANT OF MALINDA BRAY|
I read a comment by your mother, Trish Holaway, on findagrave.com, she said Malinda (Butler) Bray was her fourth great grandmother, she is also my fourth great grandmother, she was married to my fourth great grandfather Jonas Ingram, then he either died, disappeared or deserted his family around 1807. They had three sons, John, Jonas, and Hiram. She married Reuben Bray around 1810. In 1811 their first son, William Bray was born, he is the half brother of my third great grandfather, John Ingram.
William kept a book, below is a portion of his diary which I found in a book called "Descendants of Jonas Ingram and Melinda Butler", compiled by James Barry Bingham. It also includes some Bray family history, and it's available at familysearch.org to download and read for free. I was wondering if you might have any idea who would have this William Bray's diary now?
The following was taken from a letter dated 23 September 1968 from R. Voyt Hill of 1755 Mayfair Drive, Birmingham, Alabama to Mr. Jason L.
Ingrum, 31 Meador Drive, Tuscaloosa, Alabama:
"A book kept by William Bray, son of Reuben Bray and the grandfather of my wife and the Bray girls living at Lynnville, kept a sort of a diary and in the book I found the following: dated May 27, 1850
"An agreement with Wm. Bray and his brothers and sisters mutually appointed me, Wm. Bray to wind up the estate, also agreed that John, Hiram and Jonas Ingram children should have one heirs share in said estate if they can be come at (located, I suppose), if not those that cannot be come at, their part to be equally divided amongst the
balance of the heirs. Also agreed that Hiram Ingrum should act as guardian for these children until they could get their part otherwise
comply as above stated. Commenced according to arraignment and sold the property. Total amount was $162.71. Ann Ingrum was one of the purchasers • buying some items for $1.00. June 25, 1850: John
Ingrum to me, the wood work of running gear of three- two horse wagons for my interest in a piece of land. I was born July 7,1811."
Your mother was born May 20, 1954, I was born May 23, 1954.
|Ryan Martin||Your Mom Trish|
I'm sorry to hear your mom passed away. She wrote a beautiful obituary for my Grandpa Charlie Gaines and left a ton of flowers & notes for him. I never met her but she must have been a great person.
|Anna O'Quinn Richter||Aunt Wanda|
What a nice tribute you wrote for your Aunt Wanda.
|G||Merry Christmas, Gayla|
No, I'm not the Gayla you were named after, but we became friends on Facebook and messaged each other a while back.
I miss your mom and wanted to leave her a token and of course, one for Lody. I know they're having a wonderful Christmas in Heaven with my husband, Ron, and all of their many friends and loved ones.
Take good care, stay in touch, and good luck in your search for the other Gayla.
