First - My sincere apologies to all who have spent untold time and effort to obtain pictures for complete strangers and have not been given any recognition at all.
I was as guilty as anyone for copying pictures from FG and adding them to my trees without crediting the persons who took them. But, NO MORE!
I have been diligently going through my trees and tracking down all those headstone photos AGAIN on FG. I have been adding the following to the caption field for each one in my Family Tree Maker program:

Photo added by __________
(FIND-A-GRAVE ID # ___________).

Secondly - I was contacted by someone who asked me if I knew that Ancestry.com lists me as the "originator" of a photo when that photo turned out to be one I had copied from FG. This is what has led me to the backtracking listed above.
It seems that if you copy a photo off of FG and add it to your tree, then upload that tree to Ancestry.com, you become the "originator" since the source of the photo is not previously tied to Ancestry. I hope that my adding the info to the CAPTION field will give credit to the true originators.

Third - I personally find it very sad that some people are hung up on "recognition" or "competition" rather than embracing the spirit of the site...SHARING!! Some have even removed their pictures (presumably because of "sinners/thieves" like me) which is extremely sad.

Finally - As FG is supposed to be, at least in my opinion, a free site, then ANY photo that I have originally uploaded is FREE TO USE, COPY, SHARE, or whatever! Blessings on your searches!
