Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a native of Louisville, KY and currently reside in East Texas. I have been doing family research for over 20 years. My maternal great grandfather anglicized his german surname Haubrich to Hambrick. I've always known that I had a great uncle 'Charlie' who changed his last name from Hambrick to Charles M. Hamburg and played professional baseball. I first found him on the Deadball Era web site by Frank Russo. I then found him on Find A Grave, also submitted by Mr. Russo. I seem to have a connection to baseball, as I am a distant relation to the Hillerich's of the Louisville Slugger fame. My ggrandmother, Mary (Hillerich) Vogel, was a first double cousin to J.F. "Fred" Hillerich, father of John A. "Bud" Hillerich, who made the first bat fashioned for an individual player, Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning (as legend tells us), thus the birth of the "Louisville Slugger".
Other family surnames I'm researching are Jansen, Bosse, Mathies/Mathias/Mathews, Wenzel, Hess and Vogel. Many more too numerous to mention.

I'm enjoying working with this site and have added all of my family members that I've found so far. Most of my Ancestors are buried in St. Louis Cemetery, Calvary Cemetery, Resthaven Memorial Park and Cave Hill Cemetery, all in Louisville.

If anyone finds an error on any of my contributions, please don't hesitate to inform me and I will be happy to correct it. Families are for sharing, so feel free to use any photo I post in your own family genealogy, just please provide photo credit when uploading to genealogy websites. Please use the Suggest a Correction feature to make requests for modifications or transfers. Transfer requests should typically meet the Find A Grave guidelines, but I do make exceptions. I would rather a memorial be with 'family' than not. I do not do this for the 'numbers'. I do not transfer my own ancestors.

A genealogy tip for those posting obituaries. When listing an obituary and sourced to a particular newspaper, the obit should always be written exactly as printed. Any errors should be sited as a 'correction' at the end of the obituary.

A very special thank you to my very special Olin E. Hartley for sponsoring my parents memorials.

Thanks also to a special findagrave friend Diane Miller for sponsoring my maternal grandparents.

I appreciate all who leave tributes for my family members and please forgive me if I don't get a personal thank you out to all individuals. I am retired, but stay busy with family research and try to keep up with the chores that beckon me daily. I leave tributes when I can, but find it a task to keep up with my own family sometimes. Not enough hours in the day, but so thankful to have each day and the friends I have made on this site.

Claudia (Jansen) Hartley

I've been able to add the parents and maternal grandparents for this ancestor of ours. His memorial is #155238552 in case you want to take a look.

RE: Bielefeld
Claudia, I will work on that for you. I have taken the photos for all the Bielefeld family at Resthaven except two and I will take those once I find them. I will get maps of the sections from the office too.

RE: Bielefeld, Henry & Marie
Claudia, I have added the marker photo to Arthur's memorial and have deleted the one I set up. I also have transferred all the Bielefeld memorials that I set up to you.

RE: Bielefeld, Henry & Marie
Claudia, my apologies for an error in my previous message. The memorials I added last night were of another family and not Bielefeld. But again, if you would like me to transfer any of the Bielefeld memorials I have added please let me know.

RE: Bielefeld, Henry & Marie
Claudia, I understand your frustration over the memorial. I have send 2 corrections for Marie so far. At least the picture of her in-laws stone was removed and I was able to add the correct one. In Section 12 there are several Bielefeld graves but I have not found one for Lee in that area. I set up 3 more Bielefeld memorials last night. Maybe you could check them and let me know the relationships of them. Also Claudia, since this seems to be your family I will gladly transfer any of the Bielefeld memorials to you if you want them. Just let me know.

RE: Johannes Ritter (d. 1840)
If you're interested in the origin of your Juliana Maria Dorothea Ritter Hillerich's baptismal names, take a look at the memorial I've entered for her aunt, Juliana Dorothea Maria Heimbuchner.

Found the death record for our ancestor Johannes Ritter, along with several more Ritters, Heimbuchners, and Hillerichs from the Catholic parish register from Neustadt.

RE: Hillerich connection to Hess
Look up Heß and Heußel in Friedhof Seckmauern, and you'l see how many I'm working at present. Also search for Brohm among my memorials from the search feature on my profile page, and you'll see some leads there too.

RE: Hillerich connection to Hess
I just got home from work and found your info. I've seen all these individuals in the records I'm going through. We'll be adding a lot to that side of your family too. :) The Ostner connection through Albert Hillerich's wife is really interesting. Also the forester and huntsman connection is fascinating. Even the English have what's known as Forest Law, and it was especially prevalent in feudal Germany. Their headquarters in Herrschaft Breuberg appears to be Kastell Worth near Worth-am-Main. In just a week of going through the microfilm I already have two binders and three folders filling up with what I'm trying to keep organized so I can reference back to it. The records from Sandbach from which the parish at Seckmauern was formed haven't even arrived yet. They will also contain Neustadt and other surrounding towns, so we'll be adding a lot.
