There are two cemeteries with the Myrtle Grove name, and we found both of them. One is behind the First Born Holiness Church at 6601 Carolina Beach Road. This is also referred to as the Freeman Cemetery is actually located down a narrow forest path where the grave markers appear to be random, among very tall trees on heavily forested land. It almost looks like it could have been a battlefield as most of the markers indicate deaths that occurred in the 1800s with graves on either side of the path, and some literally along the edge of the road.
The other Myrtle Grove Cemetery is on the opposite side of Carolina Beach Road, NEXT to a church. Again, no paved road, but a path that leads into the graveyard. If heading south on the Carolina Beach Road, the church and Myrtle Grove Cemetery are on the right side. Some trees are there, but not heavily forested like the one across the road.

It is actually listed as Oak Grove, Freeman & Hanks Chapel. It is in the Myrtle Grove area of Wilmington.

Thank you. Unfortunately, I do not live close to Texarkana, but maybe if you edit the burial location, someone who is near there can go look!

I was preparing to go photograph the grave marker for Leon Williams, but I found an inventory of Shiloh Cemetery in Corinth, TX, and he is not listed. There are two other Williamses with unmarked graves around them. Not sure if there are relatives also in that cemetery. Do you have any additional information?

Ms. Nancy, unfortunately I have no idea where the Myrtle Grove Cemetery is. I entered it in Find A Grave based on info included on my GGM's death certificate. While visiting NC this past summer, we were unable to even GET to the cemetery where my grandfather is buried (Haw Hill) as it is now on private land. I suspect that the Myrtle Grove Cemetery may be on private land, although I have no way of confirming that. Have you contacted the North Carolina Board of Cemeteries for any information about Myrtle Grove? What about any of the local funeral homes? Wish I could offer more. Good luck in your search!!
