The earth will never be the same again.
Rock, water, tree, iron share this grief
As distant stars participate in pain.
A candle snuffed, a falling star or leaf,
A dolphin death, O this particular loss
Is Heaven-mourned; for if no angel cried,
If this small one was tossed away as dross,
The very galaxies then would have lied.
How shall we sing our love's song now
In this strange land where all are born to die?
Each tree and leaf and star show how
The universe is part of this one cry,
That every life is noted and cherished,
And nothing loved is ever lost or perished.
I currently live in Charleston, South Carolina

|Carol T.||RE: Re: Clara Woodward|
You are probably right about Clara's father being in rough shape & dying. Curious because her mother kept the remainder of her children together. Clara was adopted by James & Esther Bateham who had a farm on what is now Detroit Metro Airport. It worked out fine for Clara b.1870 because she married their son William Bateham b.1861 (Detroit policeman), was widowed & then married their grandson Charles Rowell b.1871 (Bill's sister Charlotte's son)!

My husband's great G-G-Grandparents are Esther(Frey) & James Bateham. Do you know why Clara Woodward ended up being adopted by them? She married their son William Bateham and then my husband's G-Grandfather Charles E. Rowell. Seems to be a very interesting story there! Thanks, Carol

Hello Monica, I know you have worked on the memorials from Zoar. I was wondering if you saw a marker for Mary Ann Green Wilson. According to her birth certificate she is there. Her Father is Whitten Green (Find A Grave Memorial# 19185233) who you transferred. Mary was the second wife of Miles Hilton Wilson (Find A Grave Memorial# 35539500), my Great Grandfather. I may have a family member check it but I was just wondering if you had recorded the whole cemetery. Thanks
