RE: Christopher Smith
Patty,
OK, the pictures are there.
I thinking maybe the fire department paid for the stone and even the grave itself. Back then everything was so inexpensive. My grandfather paid $1.00 for a plot back in 1911 at Holy Name.
She could be another firefighter, a granddaughter, who knows.
I do know that to bury anyone in a grave without possession of the deed they have to get permission from a family member(s) to see if anyone objects, that's if the family paid for it.
Don't forget to ask if anyone else is in there?
Good luck with your mystery person.

RE: Christopher Smith
Patricia,
I went back and that is Christopher's grave.
I walked around to the other side and found the engraving "Christopher P Smith" and it looks like Dec 26, 1866 - Jan 18, 1905".
The front of the stone says Smith and the birth year differs from the photo request birth year but I am positive that is him.
Who that is buried with him? Maybe the cemetery office can lend some more information about that or send you in the right direction to find out who that is.
I will also go back and put up the pictures of the back of the headstone.

RE: Christopher Smith
I am pretty sure that I have the right grave, but just to make sure when I go back I will double check.
If it is wrong, I apologize in advance.
That section is huge and the way they, excuse the pun, laid it out is slightly maddening.
I'll be in touch,

I am looking for the grave of Sally, or Sarah, (Dow) Cramer (1806-1893), wife of David Cramer (subject memorial). I visited this cemetery a few years ago, and took pictures of those headstones I recognized as relatives. I cannot find those photos at present, altho I am sure they will turn up eventually. I can't remember if I saw Sally's headstone or not, but believe it to be nearby if not inscribed somewhere on David's headstone. Was wondering if you could check on this for me at some point and get back to me. I appreciate the work you do for Find A Grave.
Thanks

You are quite welcome -- was looking for a name and pulled up entire cemetery listing and it popped out at me.

RE: Yelland
You are quite welcome. When I do that sort of typo in FamilyTreeMaker the program corrects me. I hope that Find A Grave will add that feature sometime, because I've made the same error.

Unfortunately
I am not subbed to Ancestry myself. I also am not sure. I know Lillian is from there and I am guessing Otto died around the same year she was born looking at the one you had but could you look around to see if you can find a Louise or any Nelson's and Foedish's there? If you can, that would be wonderful and I might be able to find a connection hopefully.

Otto P Foedish
I know this seems really strange, but I am having a really hard time trying to follow a part of my family tree. I was wondering if you would be able to help me as you seem to have done a gravesite with a name in my tree. I have a Lillian White Foedish (1876 - 1955) in my family tree who married Francis (Frank) Verbeck House (1873 - 1946). What I am trying to find out is Lillian's mother and Father. On the death certificate, it says they were Otto Foedish and Louise Nelson but I do not have a date for them. Though my research, I did find that Otto's middle name might start with a P and that he was probably born in New York somewhere, but sadly that is all I could find.
Would the Otto P Foedish that you have here http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=17224402 be the one I am looking for? I know that the place he is buried is in the same town that Lillian was born and the death is the year Lillian was born.

Living Relative
John, Elias and Love Ross
I wonder if you would like to transfer these graves to me..they are from my Dad's side of the family..John and Love are my 3rd grgrandparents and Elias is John's brother.I go down most every summer to care for the graves..also the graves of his family over in Hillside..more Rosses,Lukens and Tylers etc. If you prefer to keep them , that is fine..I am 85 and don't know how many more years I will be able to do it.I do have family info on all of the graves in Damascus and will gladly share it if you need it. I have cleaned many of the stones with D2 and they are much easier to read..it is a great Product which is safe to use.. I have friends who have a cemetery "clean and restore stones" business and they recommended it.
