Hi I'm Tammy. I have been doing my family genealogy for about number of years now. I am a researcher at heart. My major in college was history, particularly Early American. |
In my spare time I do genealogy, in my spare-spare time I run 10ks and 1/2 marathons. I find running to be daunting, arduous and, at times, painful but there is nothing like a 10-15 mile run at 5am on a Sunday morning to clear your mind and ready it for the coming week. I have even solved some genealogy roadblocks while running. :)
When I visit cemeteries I am generally there to take pictures of family members or family friends but try to also take pictures of anyone located near by to upload to the site in hopes to help others in their research quests.
My direct family lines are Jenkins, Hammond, Pate, Powell, Dake, Capehart, Hays, Jump, Billings, Zumwalt, Pumphrey, Fussell & Carr
I have really enjoyed this site. It has helped me out in big ways with piecing together missing information in my family tree. I hope some of my entries are just as helpful to other researchers.
If anyone has any questions about any of my entries or pictures/document uploads I am always happy to discuss and make necessary changes.
I have decided to go thru all the memorials I manage and do a detailed search of each and try to provide as much accurate information as possible. At this point I have COMPLETED all the memorials (under my management) in the following cemeteries:
Fountain Cemetery (116 of 571) - Dewey County, OK [March 2014]
Currently working on:
Brumfield Cemetery - Dewey County, OK
Baptist Cemetery (4 or 7) - Halifax County, NC

James Allen Snyder died at Southampton Memorial Hospital in the City of Franklin, VA. His mother and I were with him at the time. He died from profound birth defects which included his heart, which were the result a genetic accident that was classed as a trisomy 18 by testing.

I would also consult the Dewey County historical society or the librarian to see if they have an obituary extending that far back in an old newspaper or you can ask the people at the Redinger funeral home --they go back four generations.
What is disgraceful is the one marker i posted where the poor woman's name was all jumbled--and it was one of those the funeral home provides until the family can get a proper tombstone.
And another markers where it had apparently rusted and the letters of the name had collapsed into it.
I was intrigued by the Union soldier who was buried there identified only by his name and a regiment.Someone must be looking for him for their genealogy so I contacted the Ohio Historical Society.

All I know is what is on the tombstone. You can consult the world connect at rootsweb.com and see if her information is listed there. Or you can try the LDS website for information on her.
Tammy, Thanks for the speedy updates and responses. Your work is appreciated. I have added all the photos that I took this last month at Milton-Freewater so I think I am done bugging you! Rosalie in CDA
