Both my parents were very interested in family history. They both shared family stories often, and family was most important. From their notes and stories, I started working on my family genealogy. I am hooked and have enjoyed "meeting" new people and "family" through my research. I only wish my parents were still with us to see all the history I have discovered.|
My family research in on the White, Etheridge, Brown, Jordan, Tedder, Johnson, Jernigan, Clark, Wolfe, and Oliver families.

|H.G. Walker||RE: Green Berry White|
Ms MArtin, my name is Harold Walker and I am a direct descendant of John Walker B 1760,Penn, and died in May of 1852 in Dallas County ALabama. He is the father of Martha White/ Perkins. I have researched this family for many years and located the home place of Old JOhn near SAfford. ( was called Athens back then) Nearby is an old cemetery known as the OLD Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. I suspect that OLD JOhn and his wife and MArtha and others of the family are all buried there. In 1841 Old JOhn had a sale and sold off his property, Martha buying a tract and living there and later marrying John Perkins. Old John also deeded her a couple of slaves to work the farm. These records are in the Dallas COunty Recorder of Deeds Office. Over time the Concord Baptist Church relocated and the town of Athens faded away. It was also known as Liberty Hill and archives records located the Old Liberty Hill post office in the present community of Blaylock near SAffold. There are no old minutes of the church records to be found as the church later evolved into the Safford Baptist. Though I have no proof I strongly suspect all these missing family members are probably buried there. There are at least 40 old graves there unmarked. I have also probed the depressions of graves and found old markers but none of the Walkers. The civil war changed everything and MArthas sister Nancy Jones( John B) ended up in Clark COunty MIss. with her grandson whom she had raised, Enoch Bell. Nancy and her husband had lived with Old John for years but they later moved to Harrells where he owned a large plantation, many slaves and much land. Most of it was lost due to the war. Martha gravitated to Harrells after the war and lived with her son JOhn. John Perkins had also died.
Greenberry White was named in Old JOhns will which was recorded in Dallas COunty in 1853. I think he was given Old Johns saddle. Feel free to pass this information to my distant cousins the Whites.

Hi June, I have added the links that you requested to Floyd Tedder memorial.
Thank You, and Good Luck
|H.G. Walker||Green Berry White|
I saw your posting for Lt Greenberry White. His mother was Martha Walker White. SHe was the daughter of John Walker, B. 1760 of Dallas County.
She was later remarried to a Perkins. Could I inquire where you got Marthas birth date. Additionally her brother JOhn G Walker lived in Lauderdale County and died there MAY 1855. I have been unable to find his grave.

Floyd Tedder parents was J. C. Tedder and Emma Eubanks. No I am sorry I will not transfer the memorial, for Ova May Seabolt , was a distant cousin of mine. She was descendant of my Farmer Family ancestors, I am sorry.

Thanks for your message. It's been awhile since I looked at Findagrave. I will try to do what you are asking but since I have not been on here in months I will have to figure out how! Yes, my Great grandmother was Elizabeth Deas (Dees) Clanton Ethredge. I will acclimate myself to the web site again and see what I can do.
|Joan Viney||RE: Elizabeth Etheredge|
How about contacting the volunteer who posted the photo asking her to post her photo on the original entry? She would probably do so if she knows the photo is posted on your entry, which is a duplicate entry that might be deleted. I, too, would not want to lose the photo. Thanks.
