Georgia (Decatur, and now Cherokee County) has been home for two thirds (most) of my life. Two sons, three granddaughters, and three grandsons, all of whom are Georgians. |
An Amarillo, Texas native (and 10 yr. native of Fort Worth), and seven generations removed from Patrick and Margaret McCullough Phinney of Chester (District)County, SC, dating from 1786.
History at times surpasses genealogy as the greater interest. This site is a compilation of stories from individuals responsible for that history, and it never ceases to improve with each addition.
Paternal Lineage: Phinney, Crosser, Wright, McCullough
Maternal Lineage : Daniel, Newman, Talley, Magee

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
...I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...

Would you transfer two graves in Eldorendo Cemetery to me? R G Priest #12315001 and Gladys Priest #12315006 ? They are my father's sister and her husband. I would appreciate this. Thanks, Jacqueline

Wes - Yes, you are correct regarding John's mother. I put in another request to remove Charity as his mother. Sorry for the confusion, been looking at this too long! Best regards - Bill C.
|Michael & Jennifer McBride||RE: Nancy Phinney Fairfield Co, SC|
I am related to James McBride, but I am not a descendant. I haven't figured out the exact relationship yet. The best I have determined so far is that James was either a brother or first cousin of my 3G-grandfather John McBride. John was born in Fairfield 4 Nov 1789, the year before James was born.
So far, I have tracked down the descendants of James and Nancy into the 1930s. In the process, I also looked for Nancy's descendants with William Phinney. If you are interested, I have most everything I have found documented on a tree on Ancestry. The ID is mikemc846 and the tree is "McBride/Smith and Related Families".

|Marjorie Crews||RE: Lee M Potts - Cartersville|
You are welcome. I want to let you know that the Potts are not in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville,
Bartow, they are in Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in White, Bartow, Georgia. They are about 15 miles apart. Oak Hill Cemetery is a huge cemetery owned & managed by the City of Cartersville and is close in down town. White, Bartow County is a very small town East of Cartersville on Hwy 411 and Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery is on Hwy 140, 2 miles East of 411 White Georgia.
The reason there were no photo request being filled is they thought the Potts were in Cartersville. When I went there on a request for Wayne Eugene Potts, a Dale Black who works there told me he might be in Oak Hill in White.
When I went to White Saturday, I found a lot of Potts buried there. I took photos of them all and uploaded the o Find A Grave. I created about five memorials also. So if you are researching the Potts, this is my treat to you.
Have a Blessed Life, Marjorie

I'm pleased to accept this transfer of my 2nd great-grandfather. Thank you for recording his grave! I think FindaGrave was affected by 'crash' of ancestry.com because I wasn't able to connect through to you for several days. I would have thanked you sooner!
Thank you very much.
