Bio Photo I love spending time in cemeteries. I also love genealogy work. It has been great fun searching for the graves of my own ancestors. I would love to be able to help someone else who might not be able to make it to my area. I live in Chicago, Il. We have lots of wonderful, old cemeteries in the city and surrounding suburbs. I hope that I may be of assistance to someone. It would be very helpful if a request could include the grave location. A call to the cemetery can get you that info. I have often found cemetery offices closed on weekends, which is mostly when I can go. It then makes it impossible to locate the grave.

Calvary: Section 5 Request
Several of us are actively working to clear the 759 request at Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland. You have a request (or more) with plot information, however we don't have a map for that part of the section. With thousands of graves per section (400,000 total on 300 acres) a section map is basically required to find a grave.

The office at Calvary is very restrictive with information. If you could please call them at (216) 641-7575 and tell them you have a relative buried in the specific section and that you're coming when they're closed (weekend, holiday, etc) they should agree to mail you a plot map. If you get one please let me know and I'll give you my e-mail address.

Each time I go I have to skip the requests with plot info that I don't have a map for, yours is one of them.

You've put in request(s) at Calvary in Cleveland. Several of us are working to clear the more than 730 requests. With 400,000 burials and 300 acres, if you could please obtain plot information AND a plot map one of us will be more likely to be able to fill the request, as the office will only give out a little information to each person. The office phone number is (216) 641-7575. On my page I have the plot maps listed that we already have.

You can try to tell them you'll be visiting when they're closed, etc. So far everyone who's called has been successful in having a map mailed. If you get one let me know and I'll give you my e-mail address. With thousands of graves per section a plot map would be VERY helpful. Without plot information it's basically impossible.

(At least one of your requests has no plot info)

Ann, thank you for searching for my great grandfather at St Adalberts. It is unfortunate that you were unable to locate him in the area specified. I will reverify the plot # with the cemetery office.

RE: Saint Adalbert Catholic Cemetery
I am so sorry I agree having the location when a request is placed makes it much easier and I should have done that to all off them. I will try to get them and add it. I ask people when I accept request to try to get them too. My bad!!

RE: Saint Adalbert Catholic Cemetery
I sent an email with the names but Im not trying to "cut ahead" of others that have been waiting longer. Just trying to understand. I have heard of a cemetery that charges 25.00 to look up another one required a letter from family allowing a photo taken of the marker another would only allow 3 lookups at a time/day and yet another that would try to take your camera or at the least chase you away if they caught you taking a picture.....(the one charging 25.00 is in the chicago area).

Saint Adalbert Catholic Cemetery
I was wondering if there is a problem with getting pictures at Saint Adalbert Catholic Cemetery. I noticed 176 request and only 3 claimed by 2 people. Just wondering I live in California I have heard stories of some cemeteries that are hard to do and was wondering if this is one of them. I have several family members buried at this cemetery.
