The FAQs are definitely guiderules...or are they rulelines? No matter. The FAQs *absolutely* detail site policy and all members are expected to follow them and abide by them.

Having been a beta tester for the new EDIT system, have nothing but praise for this new feature! Can get through updates in minutes what used to take hours. This new edit feature is also proving to be a huge leap in getting the name fields clean up per the naming conventions found in the FAQs (these are not optional nor subject to interpretation):

Memorial Naming Conventions:

If a hyphen or an apostrophe is part of the name, use the punctuation.

A period should be used after names where only an initial is known. If the full name is known, use the full name and not the initial.

No other punctuation should be used within any Name Field.

Full capitalization (ALL-CAPS) of names should not be used in any Name Field.

Suffixes and Prefixes do not belong in any Name Field.

First Name - First name of the deceased. Put the entire first name (if known), even if the grave marker is only an initial.

Middle Name - Middle name of deceased. Put the entire middle name (if known), even if the grave marker is only an initial.

Nickname - Nickname of deceased, if known; the nickname is automatically placed in quotes.

Maiden Name - Maiden name of a married individual, if known (otherwise leave blank); the maiden name is automatically italicized and should only be used if the individual was married and took the spouse's surname as their new surname. If the deceased was never married, then the surname should be placed in the "Last Name" field, NOT in the "Maiden Name" field.

Last Name - Last Name as you would find it on the tombstone, if the interred had more than one marriage or other possible spellings please place this information in the bio and use the family links. Do not include honorary or other suffixes in the Last Name field.

Any photos I've added to this site are open for anyone to use, no permission or credit needed.

I strictly adhere to the Find A Grave guidelines regarding transfers. No exceptions. Requests made outside of the guidelines, or do not state relationship, are no longer being acknowledged. Virtual cemeteries are the way to "gather" your ancestors together.

Copy-and-paste census, military and other data is not a "bio". Please don't send these type of bios because they will not be added.

Finally, I will NOT add a link to a burial unknown memorial. This site is named Find a GRAVE for a reason. Not a difficult concept.

Period after an initial
I have been submitting spreadsheets and part of the instruction on the blank sheets are NOT to use a period mark after the initial. How is that to be corrected in a speedy manner?

Mrs A L Lockheart this is the way it is listed in cemetery records. Unless you know her first name its best to leave it like this. If there is a problem you can contact findagrave.

Mrs.
I have been moving "Mrs." to the prefix field, per your edits, and in most cases it isn't a problem. However, when the cemetery entry is Mrs. John Smith, and John Smith is beside her and I have linked them, it now shows on John Smith's page that his spouse is John Smith, whereas before it was Mrs. John Smith. I have done extensive research to find her name, (I hate when women aren't accorded the dignity of being buried as their own self), but have not found it. Do I leave it as you requested, or are there instances when it is O.K. to have Mrs. in the name field?

Oakridge cemetery in Marshall, Michigan
Thank you for sending me your recent edits in Oakridge cemetery in Marshall, Michgian. We have obtained the complete burial list for Oakridge and have been transcribing it for a few years. I add the names to findagrave as it appears listed in the burial records. Once a headstone photo is added to the memorial, (or I find other sources to verify it) then I update that person's memorial as on the stone. Some of the burials are only listed in the records as Mrs. W.G. Franklin. In that case, if I didn't put the Mrs. in front of it, you wouldn't know who you were looking for. I have the Mr's listed as in the records so then people know the person is an adult if an age isn't listed in the bio. Per burial records.

Hello.
Are you Certain that this memorial is correct with its dates and spouse?. I have been looking for the grave of My 5x Great Grandfather Johannes Kunkle who was born in Gelnhausen, Hessen, Germany He came to America with brothers David and Michael as Hessian Soldiers and were all of the 15% of Hessian Troops who switched sides and became Patriots for the Revolution and became American Citz. name was Johan or Johannes Heinrich Kunkle (I keep seeing different spellings? but he took on a nick name "Henry"after becoming an American. He was married to Elizabeth Christina Kleinfelter who is buried in this cemetery also.

Edits
For the British cemetery in Brazil, my data is sourced from the cemetery registers/database/graves. Many names are in Portuguese and thanks (not) to Find A Grave they have deleted all letters which have special characters and hence many names are now spelt incorrectly. I have loaded a number of names and am slowly sorting through them and adding photos, unlike some people I know who just skim data from other people sites and don't add many photos. In other words stop sending me edits - you self opinionated, self appointed Find A Grave police. You have become a serial pest on this site and until your photo ratio to number of entries increases then in my eyes you have no credibility as a power contributor. Any twit can download other sites' data and simply upload an excel file with no photos.

Thank you for....
going through all of my entries. The ones that you are finding were done before they added a Mrs to the prefix list. I needed to put Mrs in the given name box and move everything over to the right.
