My name is Molly. The first big loss of my life was my Dad, PFC William Clayton Clark |
I would like to thank everyone that has stopped by my Dads, Uncle Lloyds, Larrys, and Nickels memorials. I have added Father Artim, who was our Priest in Anchorage, and Bob Phelps whose wonderful family I got to know in So. California, while I was living there the last 3 years of his life. He was a Firefighter and a Hero that volunteered during the L.A. riots.
Each time I log on to Find A Grave, and see a new post, my grief load is lightened, knowing that someone thought about these wonderful souls. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful memories of your loved ones. I never tire reading all of the interesting ways people lived their lives and continue to do so through their stories.
What trying times we have to go through during our journey in this life. As I visit so many memorials and read of the lives that were led, I am so inspired.
On the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks, I was deeply saddened by all of the stories and video recaps. Then a thought out of no where came into my head. What about the troops that are overseas and fighting for freedom now. I googled in "adopt a soldier". To my amazement there are so many reputable sites that have literally thousands of requests for letters from home. So I have adopted a soldier and sent out my first letter. I did this in honor of all those that gave it all for our freedom. It only took me a few short moments from my day to write "my" soldier a letter. I am going to contact Hallmark though and request that they start a line of cards especially for our troops that fight everyday and go unappreciated until it is too late. Let's celebrate their lives, and deeds, while they are still with us and let one in a million know that you care.
Today would have been my Dad's 95th Birthday. Though Mom and I are a few states away now, we celebrated the day, on the phone. The gals in the office, the nurses, the aids, everybody celebrated My Moms' Husbands Birthday. It's a great place where she is and my Mom laughed that genuine Texan laugh! Mom grew up in Quitman Texas and she remembers that the little "Spacek girl" that came around for chocolate chip cookies. I'm assuming that was Sissy's Mom from Quitman TX. I also sent videos off of YouTube of Sheb, my Dad's best friend. We made the best of the day and both laughed at the wonderful memories of living in Alaska.
Mom is still doing well considering her Azlheimers. I have her room filled with books since she is an avid reader. She replied to me, "Honey, all I need is one book. By the time I finish it, I've forgotten what I've read." Through all that she has endured she still has her sense of humor!

Sorry for the two empty posts. Havn't typed for a good while. I just wanted to say how touching your memorial to your dad is. I look at find a grave often, and have yet to be as touched by a childs memorial for their father yet. I'm sorry that it was so painful a loss for you, but obviously the good memeories are what life is all about. You will see him again, though the wait sometimes seems unbearable. Keep his memories alive, and he will never be far away.

Prayers said for you and your mom. It is hard when you can no longer take care of those you love at home. I just got done doing it with my own mom and always hoped I would never be called on to make that kind of decision. No doubt it is never arrived at lightly and you will question yourself for a while, but you must know you have done the best you can with the information and resources you have. Hang in there.

I was so touched by the memorial for your Dad. The wonderful memories of him that you have been able to carry in your heart through the years must be a great comfort for you. Take care of your Mom and know that he is still watching over you. How blessed you are to have such wonderful parents. I too cherish the memories of mine and it now brings me comfort to leave flowers for them on those special days. We are so blessed to have the Find A Grave site where we can go to express our feelings on those days when we miss them so much.
