Hi Nancy,
I have been trying to sort out my Hoff ancestors in Wausau for many years, and still have many holes in my search. Do you know anything further about Matilda's birth family? Anything about her parents, August Hoff and Ernstine (aka Tena) Schlender? Was August b. in WI or in Prussia? Was he married a 2nd time, and then did he live in Lincoln County? Are you familiar with Matilda's cousin, Maria Brandt Baerwald - Maldita was a sponsor at the baptism for one of Maria's children.
I have lots to share, but also lots yet to learn.

We have transferred the g/grandparents to you, the person that added the obit for Catherine contacted us and wanted it transferred to him when we ask his relationship he sent back a note saying we were just hanging on to it for numbers, not true we prefer to stay within the Find A Grave guidelines and of course would prefer giving it to a closer family member such as you.

Hi Nancy, I enjoyed your picture of Susan. My great-great grandfather was Reuben Cooley a brother to Susan. Several years ago I talked to a woman in Texas and she was decended from Susan Cooley. She sent me a picture of Susan. Its been several years so I dont remember her name. Have you ever located Susan's parents grave's. I Know that they lived in Knox County Missouri. Thank you for the speedy reply. I, too, have the book or paperback to which you refer. I also have census showing that Jasper was in the home in Winnebago and knew he had divorced and that Mary Sallee had remarried a Perry. How interesting that you are the offspring from Mary as well as my husband. I would love to see the photos of Jasper's and Mary's children. What I would really have wanted was some proof (DAR won't accept the book), that Jasper was really the son of Benjamin Bentley Bennett 1. You do have a great collection of pictures and information that has been invaluable. May I post the grave pictures on my Find A Grave site as well? Let me know as I will not do anything without permission. I was trying to get my sister-in-law, Candy (my husbands sister), into the DAR through the Bennett line but they demand a census or will or something substantial. I would think the book is proof but they don't even acknowlage that Mary Broge (whom is mentioned in the book) is the grandmother . The DAR is really getting to be hard to get into.

Dear Nancy,
My name is Denise Vallon and my husband is the great great grandson of Jasper . My husbands great grandmother was Mary Jossephine Louisa Broge. The family has been trying to prove that Jasper was the son of Benjamin Bentley Bennett. We believe Jasper died in the poor house in a fire such as the gravestone implies. Jasper was married to Mary Salle and she divorced him after having children with him. Please, if you have any information on Jasper being the son of Benjamin Bentley Bennett please pass it on. Also, may I use your photo on my site of graves?
