Bio and Links
Bio Photo I've been researching my families for over 30 years. Currently, I'm trying to scan & share a large collection of old family photographs and documents that have come to me from various relatives, mostly my late grandmother.

As I scan & prepare the photographs, I'm trying to post as many as possible to findagrave for others to enjoy. Especially the very old ones. Some that are labeled are not of known family connections so I'm also researching the names in an attempt to identify them.

One that I am very proud of is Jesse Elton McEwen, buried at Palms Woodland Cemetery, Miami-Dade Co FL. It took a fair amount of research to figure out that he is probably not related, but simply a neighbor of an ancestor in Carroll Co GA. I've created a memorial for him with the information I collected. Please visit his site and show him some love.

Another memorial that I'm very proud of is for my ancestor, William Francis Marion Nobles, who died as a prisoner of war at Camp Douglas IL. His final resting place is Oak Woods Cemetery, Chicago, Cook Co IL. Please visit him also.

I hope you enjoy visiting my paternal great grandfather, Hilborn Whit Hulsey. My maternal grandfather, Rev Virgil Sizemore, preached his funeral before there was a family connection. My parents were only 10 years old and I don't think they met until a few years later. If you know any of the people mentioned that aren't linked, please let me know.

Surnames I'm connected to include: Ashworth, Barnett, Beam, Black, Burks, Cates, Clore, Crow, Dickson, Dunson, Gilbert, Hendrix, Hulsey, Leathers, Lowe, Lyle, McBrayer, McGlathery, Meadors, Mobley, Mote/Motte, Nobles, Pate, Parr, Pinson, Reid, Sanders, Sizemore, Stanford, Steele, Stephens, Tomme, Vining, Waldrop, Williams, and others.

Places I'm particularly connected to include: Laurens Co SC, Henry & Clayton Co GA, Carroll & Haralson Co GA, and Blount & Cullman Co AL.

Cates & Crows of Clayton County, Georgia
Debbie,

Could I request your information on the Cates and Crows of Clayton County, Georgia?

Isaac Cates and Syrrena Cates (maiden name Crow) were my maternal great-great grandparents.

I have tried to reach you at debzouras@yahoo.com but have so far been unsuccessful.

Thank you,

Troy Johnson

RE: Reids from Coweta and Haralson co. Ga
Hey Debbie, Sorry it took my so long to get back with you.I am thinking to that she had to have another name , maybe Rebecca was her middle name..
I wish i knew..I too thought surely she was Nathan's child but she couldn't have been if the other peoples info is right..Also My Rebecca is buried in Buchanan , Ga.. I have her in Coweta co Ga. in 1880..in 1900 she is in Haralson co. Married to William C. Peyton / Payton..I have seen their last name spelled both ways..lol..Any way, he went by Billy and her by Beck..If you look at the 1880 Coweta co Ga. census.. William and Rebecca..James and Margaret..Josephine and Huey.. Charles and Sarah, all lived right there together.all on the same page. Someone else searching this family told me that James, Rebecca, Josephine, and Charles were all siblings..And their father was James Riley Reid, mother unknown..I can't find any proof to this.. Before 1880 i can't find them anywhere..Rebecca,James, and Josephine all moved to Haralson co. I think Charles moved to Alabama. James and Rebecca along with their spouse's and some of their kids all are buried in The Buchanan Ga. city cemetery. Just wanted to give you a little more info , in case you ever see any info or hear anything on these Reids..Thanks so much, Carol

RE: Matthew Dickson
Debbie,

I note that there is a Matthew Dickson, buried in the Pickens Cemetery, in Anderson County, S.C.
There are no dates for him, but if he were the father of your ancestor, 12 year old Grizzel, then that would put him to have been born c. 1720, to 1740. Since the information lists him to have been a Revolutionary Soldier, it's not likely that he was born earlier than about 1730, and not later than about 1765. He kind of fits the time frame.

You are likely aware of him, but I just wanted to be sure you knew.

RE: Thomas G Waldrop # 13405866
The request I received was to change his name from Waldrop to Waldrup. I will not change spelling of his name. If I have him linked then I received request to link him from someone.

If You want him linked tohis Mother , Send Me an edit to link him to Mother and not to change spelling from Waldrop to Waldrup.

SIZEMORE deed
Hi, Debbie - Good to hear from you. I cannot find in my files an electronic copy of a transcription or abstract of the deed in question, and I'm pretty sure I have never scanned any of those Barnwell District deeds. I will have to go into my hardcopy files and pull it out to scan (long ago I obtained a copy of the index to deeds showing all the early SIZEMORE entries, and then obtained copies of all those deeds). It will take me a couple of days to put my hands on it, but I will get you a scan as soon as I can. As I recall, Mary SIZEMORE, "in consideration of the love and affection I hold toward my grandson, George SIZEMORE," gave to him a tract of land in South Carolina. By process of elimination, I deduced that it has to be my George Washington SIZEMORE (born 1791), who married Rhoda UNKNOWN. I'll send it as soon as I can.
