For complete website rules and frequently asked questions – with answers – click on the "Help with Find A Grave" link on the left column. Also, various brief website procedures are listed in the contributor profiles on many of the links under "Find A Grave Friends" at the lower right; for example, here and here. Before adding a memorial, make sure it is not already on Find A Grave. Please note that an individual's right to privacy disappears when they are deceased.

I am not an administrator of this website; other than editing memorials that I manage, I cannot resolve issues that you are experiencing (e.g., membership, missing photos, incorrect cemetery names). I am not associated with any cemetery, and have no further information on cemeteries beyond what is already shown online. Additionally, I have no further information on individuals beyond what is already shown online.

Abbreviated website rules concerning photographs: The copyright of all photos posted to Find A Grave remains with the original submitter. No use of photos for Find A Grave, any other website, or personal use is given without prior consent of the original submitter. Do NOT copy my photos and use them on memorials on this website (you are attributing the photos as your own when you use them). Contact me using the 'Edit' tab on any memorial that I manage and I will upload the photo to the memorial that you specify. I will allow my cemetery and grave photos to be used elsewhere for your personal use and informational purposes with this (Click on any photo to get a larger view, and to see possible captions – such as the location of the grave.) Keep in mind that most Find A Grave volunteers contribute their time (and fuel) towards improving THIS website – not to provide free labor for another website. Out of common courtesy, give credit for photos that you use; giving credit is not too much to ask for the effort put in. Again, source me as the photographer and Find A Grave as the original location.

In fairness to those who may have closer ties to a memorial, I am no longer transfering outside of the Find A Grave guidelines. I likely have had transfer requests from relatives closer than you for the same memorials that you want to have transferred. Requests that are outside of the guidelines (such as aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.), or do not state relationship, will be ignored. Find A Grave's mission is to document cemeteries, "...the goal is not to 'own' every memorial of those to whom you are related." This website can be useful to genealogists, but it's about accurately recording graves, not building family trees. Per policy, I will competently link and add your accurate information to a memorial upon your request. (I can only link to spouses and parents). Again, because of the quantity of messages that I receive, transfer requests that do not follow the transfer procedure will be deleted without a response/explanation.

"Copying and posting photos originally taken by another photographer is a copyright violation and is strictly against Find a Grave policy...
Any photo that was not taken (photographed) or owned by you should never be posted to Find a Grave memorials. This is Find a Grave's copyright policy, not the interpretation by someone else of how the policy should work...
Consider any photo that you did not personally take (with your camera) as copyrighted, as far as Find a Grave is concerned. The copyright notice is displayed every time you or any other member uploads a photo...
...we will unfortunately have to terminate your account. Find a Grave copyright policy is not an arguable point."

"Photograph the grave/gravesite 'in-situ', or as it appears in that moment in time. The purpose is to show the grave as it is, be it dirty, cluttered, broken, or pristine. It is not your job to clean it, clear it, fix it, or decorate it. The graves are not yours to do as you please. Remember, one person's 'good deed' just might be another person's vandalism. Go take lots of photos... but do it like an anthropologist and do not disturb the grave site."

RE: butterfield photo
By the way, the Butterfields are in Hillside Cemetery, not St. Jerome's.

Dear Grave Walker,

Thank you for all your time and effort in obtaining the information about Anthony's grave marker at Oakwood Cemetery. I really appreciate your efforts and at least now we know for sure there's no marker.

Catherine Bannerman
Thank you so much for our very quick response to my photo request for Catherine Bannerman's grave marker. I also appreciate the extra effort to post both the family and individual markers. I have responded to photo requests myself so I know the effort required to first find the markers. Taking and posting a picture is evidence of success. Thanks again.

Sarah Miller Boscobel Cemetery
Do you know who is buried with Sarah or around her. I can't read the stone and wondering if she is our Sarah (Brimmer) Miller. If you can give me some names of the stones around her then I can tell for sure if she is in our line. Thanks, Michal Scott
