I was born and raised in Fernandina Beach, FL. Growing up my mom was a nurse at our local hospital and my dad was a fireman. That means we knew a lot of local folks.|
I enjoy taking pictures and walking around in Bosque Bello Cemetery. I have a lot of family and friends there.
When I walk around a cemetery I don't think about all the people who have died. I think about all the people who once lived. They deserve to be remembered and I try to give them a memorial page for that reason. It's not about trying to post so many graves, it's about trying to help family and friends have a memorial for them and a family link for future generations.
I enjoy Find A Grave website and have really liked helping others get connected to their loved ones.
I am also here to link my family members. My father's side are Fender, Zorn and Taylor. My mother's side is Deen, Smart and Ivey.
My husband's family are Rembowski, Griesemer, Mercer and Ramsay.
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiselled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
it is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

I have no idea who this is or where he is buried. Please use the edit button or let me know what cemetery we are talking about so I can try to answer your question. Thanks Penny

Alonzo Thomas Howland b. 8 Sep 1877 in North Carolina USA d. May 1966 Fernandina Bch, Nassau co, Florida USA
Miranda Caroline Willis Birth Sep 1880 in Beaufort, Carteret co, North Carolina, USA Death[date unknown] in Beaufort, Carteret co, North Carolina, USA
1900 United States Federal Census, these were Madie Howlands parents:
Name: Alonzo Howland
Birth Date: abt Sep 1876
Birthplace: North Carolina
Home in 1900: Beaufort, Carteret, North Carolina
Relation to Head of House: Head
Marital Status: Married
Spouse's Name: Marinda Howland
Marriage Year: 1898
Years Married: 2
Father's Birthplace: North Carolina
Mother's Birthplace: North Carolina
Alonzo Howland 23
Marinda Howland 19 (I know she died in NC, I just don't know when, but before 1903 - possibly at Madie's birth)
Since Madie was born 1901 and Alonzo did not remarry until 1903, Marinda had to be her mother.
After Marinda died, Alonzo married Minnie Thall b. 1884.
They were married 4 May 1903 in Claremont, Sullivan co, New Hampshire USA
The 1910 Federal Census shows Madie having an older brother named Garrett who was born in 1899, however, I do not think all info is correct
because the 1900 census said there were only 2 occupants in the house, so apparently Garrett was not born, but probably on the way; ergo he could not be 11 on the 1910 census. I don't have enough info to figure it out yet, but I will
continue to dig.
1930 FEDERAL CENSUS
Charlie Gallagher 35
Madie May Gallagher 29
[Charlie was born in Punta Gorda, Charlotte co, Florida, so believe it is safe to assume their marriage took place in Florida, rather than SC]
In order for Lucille to be Madie's child, she would have concieved at age 17. Or since Charlie was 6 years older than Madie, he may have been married and lost a wife - still digging on that.

I went to the Mississippi Department of Archives & History in Jackson, MS on Thursday to obtain a copy of Alabama Faulkner's death certificate from microfiche records. Tonight, I finally sat down and culminated the whole research effort & experience into the bio section on Alabama's virtual memorial. Please feel free to stop by have a read. If you'd like a personal copy of the death certificate images, please check out my profile and shoot me an e-mail. Keep at it with your genealogical pursuits & have a blessed day! ~Everett

Hi Malisa, I live far away but lived many years in Fernandina. We were members of St. Peters. My parents and brother are buried there. We had a wonderful friend who was the local priest Fr. Ralph Kelley. I loved him so. Do you know if he is buried in St. Peters and just not recorded there. Or is he buried near his grandson Adam?
Thank you, Marye

Those are very nice pictures. I don't manage those grave memorials. I only manage Alabama's virtual memorial, and that's because I shared my amazing journey to finding her gravesite with the at-the-time current manager of her virtual memorial and the photo requestor. The virtual memorial manager just voluntarily transferred management to me a couple months ago when the case got cracked. So, needless to say, I'm still considering the best thing that I can do to honor Alabama's memory on her virtual memorial. On a separate note, I believe you're only supposed to post photos that you are the copyright owner of on F-A-G though. You may want to consider putting a website link to your photo's source (by copying the website address) into the photo's commentary, just to play it safe. ~Everett
