Bio Photo "It is the sense of this meeting, that no monuments, either of wood or stone be affixed to graves in any of our burial grounds; and if any yet remain therein, that these be forthwith removed - so that no cause of uneasiness on this account may exist, or partiality by justly chargeavle upon us." 1706, 1733.
From Rules of Disipline of the Yearly Meeting of
Friends, for Penna. New Jersey, Delaware, and the Eastern parts of Maryland.

Before you go yelling at folks with "Unknown" for burial locations, check out the FAMOUS people maintained by Find A Grave with UNKNOWN BURIAL LOCATIONS. There are 2500 of them...

I believe everyone deserves the best memorial possible without making it more about documenting everything indicated and more about accurately reflecting a life. If you have accurate information it shouldn't be too hard to locate the source documents. If you don't know how to footnote, think about just writing a bio and leave the "sources" to the genealogists. Quite frankly the transcriptions of death records is just as tasteless as posting a photo of the document. Do you ever see all this extra "stuff" when someone dies? Their memorial is in their memory, in memory of them, not a list of the 27 directories you found them in, transcriptions of their census records or the documentation providing proof they were married and had children. It is a summary (in words, not sources) of their life.

Nobody receives a death certificate when they go to a funeral.
