RE: Huggins relationship to Reid family
Yes, Ruth Reid and Miller Huggins were second cousins. I thought I read an online post by you stating Wilson Douglas Reid was your 3rd great grandfather. There was a Sr. and a Jr. by that name -- dad and son. The Jr. was Ruth's father. Little family history has been done on the Huggins-Reid family. It needed to be done. Because my gr grandmother was married to Miller's brother Clarence for 15 years, I started researching him and his family. The Cincinnati Enquirer just ran an article on Miller in honor of the 50th anniversary of his induction in 1964 into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Huggins relationship to Reid family
Hi Eric,
Mike Dyer with the Cincinnati Enquirer contacted me last week. He's writing an article on Miller J. Huggins, the late great baseball manager who took the Yankees to pennant and world series championships in the 1920s. Miller recruited Babe Ruth, even built a stadium to entice him to the Yankees.
Miller's brother Clarence Walter Huggins married my great grandmother Lauretta 'Retta' (Miller) Gasdorf. It was her second marriage and his first. She was first married to my great grandfather Joseph Gasdorf.
Retta died of breast cancer in July 1923 in Detroit. Clarence, who went by Walt, I believe, remarried a widow with two children, and moved to St. Petersburg.
Most of the above folks are in my findagrave entries.
To get to the point: The Huggins mom was Sarah Reid. She married James Thomas Huggins. Sarah's father was Robert Reid, b. 1816 Ireland, d. 1881 Cincinnati, OH, bur. at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati. Robert's brother was Wilson Douglas Reid, Sr. He married Rachel Smith. After Wilson died in 1867 in Ohio, Rachel moved the family to Denver, CO, sometime between 1870 and 1880. Wilson D., Jr. was a lawyer and clerk for a judge. He was on Colorado State Board of Pardons. I don't know where he died. After 1905 he may have moved to southern California. His daughter Ruth married Llewellyn A. Chapman.

Ouray's burial location
Eric,

What do you make of this article:

Ouray died in August 24, 1880 near Los Pinos Indian Agency in Colorado. His people secretly buried him near Ignacio, Colorado. Forty-five years later, in 1925, his bones were re-interred in a full ceremony led by Chief Buckskin Charley and Chief John McCook at the Ignacio cemetery.

A 1928 article in the Denver Post reads, "He saw the shadow of doom on his people" and a 2012 article writes, " He sought peace among tribes and whites, and a fair shake for his people, though Ouray was dealt a sad task of liquidating a once-mighty force that ruled nearly 23 million acres of the Rocky Mountains."[5]

Pietenpol / Pietenpool
Hi Eric -
I sent you some edits for Anna Pietenpool (11111485). There is a duplicate memorial for her as Anna Pientenpol (93603474). The birth month on that one is different from the burial index, but it has the last name spelled the same as the headstone and index. I added my new photos to both and will let you and the other contributor sort it out. -Amy

duplicates
Hi Eric -
You have Mary Jane Gain (11104484) and Miles Javis (11107495). In the burial index, they are Mary Jane and Miles Jain. There are now "duplicates" for these 2, Mary Jane Case Jain (72949260) and Jules Francois Emil "Miles" Jain (87063750). I went ahead and added my new photos to those ones. I assume they were completely innocent duplicates. (-: Let me know if you have questions, Amy
