Hello fellow gravers, genealogists and historians! After having finished the nearest cemeteries I've been concentrating lately in the St. Michael's cemetery in historic south Stillwater (Bayport), working my way up from only about 10% of the graves having memorials when I started. |
I love photography and the unique challenges of getting a good shot on each individual marker. Getting to the marker at just the right time of day is so exciting! I don't know about other people but it's rare when I can just walk right up to a marker and take the shot. In these parts almost all the flush markers are in the process of being claimed by the earth. You have to make the call about just how much work you want to do to it, while being respectful of the "rules". I always try to get the best photo but if you come across one of my photos that you'd like redone I would be more than happy to do that and I would also be happy to remove mine for any reason.
If you want to use one of my photos on other ancestry sites you have my permission as long as you are not planning on making money off of it. It's always nice if you credit the photo volunteer. Many thanks to the gravers who have found and photographed my own ancestors graves. You are the reason I started this new hobby.
I only put up memorials for markers because I want to put up the photo. If you want control of any of mine, please ask! I've heard about people on here who seem to collect them as if they were trinkets and won't let when a family member wants to take them over but this is Minnesota and we are supposed to be nice here, right? See messages below for an example of one who was not. Otherwise I've seen nothing but positivity from people on here and it's been a real pleasure helping out. All my best to you lovely people!

Thank you Lleeah for the information that Carmon and Donna do not have any headstones.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for the quick turn-around on theses photo requests! My friend Dave (and myself) will be shocked that the stone is already engraved with his mom's name. In the San Francisco area here, it would take 6 months to a year to have that done. This was 3 weeks! Wow.
