Note:I never visit a memorial without leaving a flower. I may not be related. Every memorial should have at least one flower...

I thought I might borrow what Jeff Gonyea (and Joseph Dudley)has on his Find a Grave profile:

"We don't "own" the memorials we manage - they are not ours. We may create them, we may update them, we may transfer them to others - we are but stewards. They are Find A Grave memorials of human beings, departed. They are not "friends" on a social media network website to be collected like baseball trading cards. And there's no prize for the one who dies with the most.

The reward (for me) comes from maintaining the most accurate and dignified memorials I can. What we record becomes history, and a record in someone else's family tree. We have a responsibility to do a good job of it. It's a privilege and honor."

Well put Jeff!

I don't research anymore, but I do try to keep up with transfer requests, corrections etc. Thanks for all you do on Find a Grave.

Flowers
I just read your bio. I have also felt that every grave deserves a flower and have been placing flowers on each memorial I create. Everyone deserves to be remembered. Thank you for all you have done,

Oakley
Thank You for the updates on the Oakley Memorial's. They are not related in the guidelines of the Find A Grave. A distant cousin Delsie Green Oakley, I met while researching my double Green family was a wealth of information. She married a Military man, her husband, then her son served in Vietnam. Sadly he took his own life at age 22. The Oakley line I researched briefly for her. Delsie was in her mid 80's with a sharp mind, she had a wealth of information to share, a old family bible, photos, just wished I had more time with her to obtain her brother's WW1 photo as he died in Normandy France 1918. Back then we did not have cell phones, hand held scanners. I worked long hours at the hospital taking supper to her. I never thought of the polaroid camera to use to take a picture of a picture. She is missed. I know a little on the Oakley you did the lovely Memorial on. Thank You for creating them. I like your bio. Are you from the Texas area I had some Green's that died in Van Zandt going to Limestone where they lived and died buried there. Unsure where in Van Xandt TX Nathaniel died and is buried. Thank You for all you do on Find A Grave. Blessings.

ID Military in Westlawn-Hillcrest
We are currently working to identify anyone buried in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery Omaha NE that has served in the military. If you have a loved one buried there or know of someone, please send us a message. We place flags on the graves for Memorial Day. This project is sponsored by Centennial Masonic Lodge #326.

If you can send us the names, we will be sure to include them on our list to get a flag.

Thank you for the help with this ongoing project.

West family
Hi, I noticed you have many listings for the West family. I'm a descendant of Mollie Geneva, she was my father's grandmother on his father J Walter Barrow's side. My father was Roy Barrow. Are you related somewhere down the line?
Just curious. Thank you for all the time and consideration you've put into all your many various entries.

Polly West 24867397
Why don't we connect Polly West 24867397 to her father Isom West 24867387 buried in the same cemetery. My notes indicate she is the daughter, also note with flowers from descendant. Thanks, and I have not forgotten your request to find someone to take over the West memorials.

West memorials
I am the only member of my family interested in family research, but will see what I can do through contacts in Fayette County, GA. There are many West descendants there.

Willis West
Thanks for all your contributions for the Willis West family. Since I placed his memorial at Find A Grave in 2004, it is amazing how many family links have been added. This gives me great pleasure that my research will live on for future generations. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
