|Paula Rhodes Wright||Laura Ann Lightsey|
My Name is Paula Rhodes Wright.
I am trying to see if Laura Ann Lightsey maiden was Rhodes of Jasper, Mississippi place of her birth. Her dad would have been Oliver Christian Rhodes and mom Sarah ann Mixon. Laura Ann married I believe George Richard Lightsey.
My mother was Genevieve Rogers of Texas. I was wondering if she could be of your line Of Rogers.

This needs to be public -- I try being polite but sometimes :)
This is what I received from "Ralph" via Find A Grave email::
"Well I finally got back to talking to the Grandson and found the correct cemetery that was added recently.
You need to delete this memorial (he was already listed in the correct cemetery).
Here is the correct Find A Grave number for J E Scarborough 103973818
I took the liberty of sending you obit to be added to the person who added the first one on Find A Grave."
1st & Last: the obit was copied by "Ralph" and sent to you from a memorial I set up because I could not locate the memorial based on name/dates in Jones county
I have been working newspapers from two counties and have photo'd quite a number of cemeteries and added from the pics so will make a few human errors in the process of getting family stories out there. I hope you have a headstone pic.

I been researching the Granberrys for over a year now and I have been able to find a great deal of information. If you will look in Find a Grave at the Granberrys buried Jesse Bryant Cemetery in Covington County and Providence Baptist Cemetery in Forrest County, there are numerous links to Mary Granberry Carter's parents, siblings, and children. One of Mary's children, Candice, married a Hemphill -- a timber company owner from Hattiesburg, but she died very young and is buried in same cemetery as Mary Carter. If you click on the link for Candice Carter Hemphill and for her husband, I think you will find an interesting story about the Carter side of your family. There's lots more that I just haven't found the time to input yet. I'll keep in touch, if you like; meanwhile, if you find any info on Alton/Allen Richmond Granberry of Maggie Mae Granberry Rainey who married Sim W. Rainey please leave me a message.
Thanks for the response.
|C. Granberry||Mary Granberry Carter|
I see by your note that Mary Granberry Carter was your great-great-grandmother. On some records, she is listed as Mary R. Carter. Would you happen to know her full name?
Also, I am looking for information on her brother Allen/Alton Richmond Granberry. On the 1900 Census for Perry County (now Forrest) he was living with his, by then, widowed sister, Mary Carter, along with his second wife, Mary Fone Granberry. On the 1910 Census for Forrest County (that area became Forrest County in 1906) Mary Carter is deceased and Mary Fone Granberry is living in the same location and listed as widowed. I have searched at length, but have been unable to locate any death date or burial place for Allen Richmond, Alton Richmond, or A. R. Granberry/Grandberry/Granbury and Mary Fone Granberry. Do you have any info you can share?

John, have you already been to Big Creek and just couldn't find these graves or can you give me some clues as to a general location, this is a large cemetery...thanks

I found more Rogers buried at Bay Springs. I sent them and others in on a spreadsheet. They should be visible shortly. If it hadn't started raining, I would have probably found more. I only had about 3 or 4 rows to go on the old section.
