Bio and Links
Bio Photo The life of a person is more than the dash between two dates. It is my hope that the memorials which I create or manage can make the individuals life fuller, even if just linking to family members or adding a few tidbits of information. Researching and including other family information makes them more than graves, they are people. Suggestions are welcome but please submit them using the edit button at the upper right corner of each memorial.
Even when transcribing cemeteries I work hard to link other family members.
I live in the northwestern mountains of North Carolina and have work primarily in cemeteries there. My current focus is Carolina Memorial Park in Concord, North Carolina. There are 30,000 graves but only about 17,500+ listed. I've done more than 4,000 of those. Much of my family is buried there. I am also focusing on Salisbury National Cemetery Annex.
I'm not about numbers. For seven years I cared for my elderly mother who had Alzheimer's. She wanted to go out but I could not trust a Mall or other public places, so we went to cemeteries where I took pictures. During the evenings, when I could not leave the house, I would upload the pictures to my computer and fill out spreadsheets. Since her passing two years ago I am not as active and have given a lot of time to upload my backlog of pictures, which I have reduced from over 4,000 to about 1,000. It's time consuming as I edit ever picture I upload. I am not related to most of my memorials.

My family can be traced back 46 generations to County Leichester, England. The family is English/Norman. They came to England with William after the Battle of Hastings in 1066. The photo above is my ancestor, Sir Nicholas Purefoy, buried in The Church of St. Michael and all Angels in Fenny Drayton, Co. Leicestershire, England. The spelling of my name is the most rare of the three family groups: Purefoy, Purifoy and Peurifoy. The early Purefoys were in Jamestown, VA long before the Hugonaut movement.
On my paternal side I am interested in the Peurifoy, Purifoy, Purefoy, Scott and Suther families.
For my maternal side are Statons, Stiller's,and Moores (from Stanly Co, NC).
My wife is from the Byrd and Carr families of Duplin County, NC.

Friends, you are invited to visit the memorial page for our son
Nathan Peurifoy He died unexpectedly in October 2014 at age 26 from a diabetic coma. In six months I lost my mother and my son.
Thank you all for your prayers, friendship and care. It is appreciated. You are also invited to visit the memorials of my grandmother Lillian Scott Peurifoy, my mother
Hazel Staton Peurifoy and Father Robert Eugene Peurifoy.

You made 2 memorials on this lady. Original is 94308167. The later one has links. Your email did not show up when I tried to send an Edit; maybe just a temporary glitch.

Thank you for the additional information on the family members. I am only canvassing the cemetery so am not related to them. I appreciate all the help I can get. I have been unable to find a death record for him but will continue to search. Thanks again.

RE: William Lander Sherrill
Thank you very much. I am now a trustee of Lander University. One of my personal goals is to collect and organize information about the Lander family as it relates to the history of the university.

Wm. Lander Sherrill - grave 29062185
Thank you for preparing the memorial of William Lander Sherrill. It might be useful to others who are researching their family history if you would add the following to the biographical note.
-----------
His grandfather was Samuel Lander, Sr. who was born in Ireland and who brought the Lander family name to the United States. In 1918, William Lander Sherrill wrote a detailed family history, A Brief History of the Lander Family (The Advocate Press, Greensboro, NC) which is now available online.

RE: Lucy Peurifoy Holland
I have transferred Stanley and Eorline. The 1930 census indicated that they were divorced so I did not attach them to each other. There is also one more Peurifoy buried in the Abilene City Cemetery.
Guy Peurifoy b. 1897 d. Aug 25, 1932. He is buried in plot 47/3/7.
All three of the plots are in the section of the cemetery called Independent Order of Fellowship.

PS
Your son was a handsome young man, I know
you were surely proud of him.

I'm sorry for your losses. I pray your happy
memories bring some comfort. I pray you
and your wife know the strength of the One
you serve and the hope of His promises.

Hard now, but Lord willing, great joy again
one day. Until that day, His grace and peace
to you.

Lucy Peurifoy Holland
I entered the information you requested on Lucy's site. I also found her parents at Abilene City Cemetery where Lucy is buried. I entered them into Find a Grave with the information I had from Ancestry.com and attached them to her. I will be glad to transfer them to you if you would like. I am a distant cousin of Lucy's husband.

RE: Col Montague
Hi! Yes, I've worked in several Jewish cemeteries in New Jersey while on vacation. I still have pictures from one of those to finish entering. I have had lots of help because sadly, I do not read Hebrew. I recognize the language, but cannot read a single thing.

For the markers that I cannot read at all I post the picture in the correct cemetery and enter the surname as 'Unknown'. Then every so often a very kind lady looks through my listings for "Unknown' people and translates the markers for me and sends the edits. It has worked great so far. I saved her profile in my Find A Grave Friends list. Her name on Find A Grave is Tevye. She does the translations as her time permits. I'm not sure how she found me, but I greatly appreciate all her hard work!

Maybe if you sent her a message asking for help she would consider your request?

I have lots of family in the Baltimore area, as that is where I was born. Nice to 'meet' you.
