Became a Civil War re-enactor in 1968. Founder in 1969 of the 8th Virginia Volunteer Infantry re-enactors group. I am the Historian of the Regiment and am attempting to locate and photograph all the gravesites of the men of the 8th Virginia. If you are aware of any, please let me know. Also searching for ANY information on this regiment and its people, such as: copies of diaries, letters, documents, published articles, newspaper accounts, obituaries, family stories that have never been recorded, family lore, etc. Thank you. I appreciate you inquiry about John J. Roberts. Unfortunately, I do not have any records that indicate he was a Confederate Veteran or not. My John J. Roberts was born 18 Jul 1832 in Wales and died in 26 Jan 1897 in Arvonia, Buckingham, Virginia. He and his brother owned one of the slate quarries in Arvonia. I am willing to research this further, if you can provide more information. Thank you for all your work. Sincerely, Barbara

Maybe you can help.
You left flowers on his memeorial. He was with Co. C 8th VA. Buried Finn's Point National Cemetery. I believe him to be my 3rd great uncle born abt 1832 Fauquier Co.,VA the s/o Francis Carter. In 1860 census Robert is living w/ his father in Fauquier. I need to find prove of who he is/was any suggestions? He died in Camp Delaware. Do you know the location of this Camp?

Just wanted to thank you for finding Edmund Berkeley and for sponsoring his memorial page. He is an interesting character along with his brothers and family and they deserve to be remembered in every way possible.
