While updating memorials without headstone photos in this cemetery, I added a headstone photograph to this memorial. If you prefer that I delete the photo, please advise.

I writing to ask your permission to use the photo you have posted of Judge James Mann "Jim" Hurt Jr., b. 1830, for my personal family genealogy files, as well as posting it on
Judge Hurt is in my family line, as his grandson, Elbridge Hurt married an Aunt of mine, Beatrice Vining.
I appreciated your consideration, and will do nothing without your permission. Thank you again for all your fine work.

A Few Obituaries

I see that you're maintaining memorials for the Chenault family in Madison Heights, VA.

I also noticed that there are photo requests- which may be difficult as the plots are surrounded by private property, deep in the woods along a hilltop crest.

In short, not easy to find and lots of poison ivy, brush, and biting insects to get there. I'll try to go out once fall sets in and see if the family whom currently owns the land, can direct me to the family plots if they know where there are.. .may be tricky.

So, to supplement in the meantime, I've gathered some obituaries from the local archives. These deaths occurred prior to 1922 and, as such, we can go ahead and post these scanned obits like pictures as there are no copyright issues- these are in the public domain.

I also got some snapshots of old records regarding some of the Chenault's in the virginia area- though they may not pertain to these specific records. I'll email those if you want them for personal use.

Stand and Lela Chenault
Stan and Lela Chenault were my grandparents.I was about 10 when they both left this world, but I can still remember the yellow house they lived in with the bird dogs barking away in the backyard.

Edward H. Chennault
Hello, Edward H Chennault is my great grandfather. If you have any info of family before him I would very much like to speak with you. I'm in my late 20s trying to dig roots from the family tree. I was born in Tupelo but raised by my grandparents Edward and Joyce Chennault of Houlka, MS and now serving in the Air Force believe it or not as a Flying Tiger stationed Georgia. Thank you so much for your time and what you are doing.
