Air Force brat, music critic at the Shreveport Times 1977-1991, military reporter there 1992-2012, local desk editor 2012-present. Various editorships held, but writing is main gig. Co-author of a history of Barksdale Air Force Base. Interest in genealogy since 1990, willing to visit Northwest Louisiana cemeteries. Fascinated by the stories of those in them, cognizant that people only pass from memory if we let them.|
Unless there are historical or sentimental or research reasons disinclining me, I will transfer memorials upon request to children or grandchildren of those memorialized. More distant relationships will not guarantee transfer and are decided on a case-by-case basis. When available, I post news stories and obits associated with the deaths and am not responsible for the manner of death of a loved one -- suicide or murder for example -- or the public attention it may have garnered at the time. You cannot change history; it changes us.

Hi John, Thanks very much for the update on his status. His record has been modified accordingly:
He is also listed on the following webpage:

2Lt George Damon Mayott is also now listed on the following webpage since I have not, as yet, started Chautauqua County, New York.
Thanks My Friend,

Thanks John for catching it. I did not create that memorial, but it was one of over 41,000 that I "inherited" when the original creator died. I looked it up on another database and he indeed had missed the birth by a century. It has now been corrected.

John, I don't know anything about them. I photographed the entire Old Mission Cemetery and entered them with the group.
Thanks for processing my edits! Barb

Thank you John for the transfer and for setting up his page to begin with. I added the new history and created more links. With your military background, you may be interested. I really appreciate your help with our family history.

I was able to find out good biographical information and military history on my uncle Charles. Shall I write it up and send it to you to add or would you like to transfer the page to me? Whichever is easier for you is fine.

When creating a famous entry, you should always use their stage or professional name. I didn't think of doing a search using his real name.
Find A Grave has already accepted mine, so I can't change the birth place but I will send an email asking them to correct it.
I just learned last night that my Great Grandparents are most likely buried in a group grave in Oakland Cemetery in Shreveport. They died from Yellow Fever in 1873. Sidney Ira Taylor and his wife Helen Mary Eaman Taylor. Also baby Annie may have too. Do you know if the names in the mass grave of possibly 800 can be found? I am writing my Family History. My sister sent me a section of a TV program last night on this. I know this is public so I won't send my email address. Clarissa
