I'm a website designer, online software installer, digital photographer, image editor, site admin/moderator, genealogist, cemetery census taker & data entry specialist. As such, one of my biggest pet peeves is people joining sites & pushing buttons with no clue what they're doing.
The good thing about FAG using memorials is the web page title/keyword is the deceased's name. So to find them via Google or FAG's own search feature all you have to know is their name.
The bad thing about FAG using memorials is too many people mistake this for a memorial site like Last-Memories.com. It's actually a grave location site like Interment.net that just happens to use memorials rather then lists. In other words - it's more-so for cemetery census takers then it is for relatives trying to memorialize their loved ones.
You don't have to join to research or post flowers/notes. You only have to join to contribute. If you decide to join/contribute the first thing you MUST do is READ THE FAQ's/DIRECTIONS. Don't expect other unpaid volunteers to hold your hand &/or clean up your messes. Read the FAQ's & also note you're responsible for whatever you contribute. People can suggest corrections, request linkage & request management. Provided they read the FAQ's & do this correctly you're required to actually manage the memorials you manage. If you don't want to be responsible for your contributions transfer them to someone who will. If you have no one else then you can transfer them to FAG. Read their FAQ's to learn how.
You can use the SAC feature to suggest a correction, request additional info be added, request linkage or request management. If you disagree with the stone you should have at least one other record to back you up & it should not be a census. If you want a bio or obit added you should note the source (book, newspaper or funeral home site) or it won't be posted. You can only link to parents & spouses & if you want people linked you should include their memorial #'s. Per FAG's FAQ's you should only request management of great grandparents, grandparents, parents, sibs, spouse, children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. If the current manager isn't related too then they're required to transfer. You must tell them how you're related & include your profile #.
The following has nothing to do w/ FAG & everything to do with me. I'm many things but a psychic isn't one of them. Please don't use the SAC feature to ask me questions I can't/won't answer.
FAQ's
Q - Where did you get your info?
A - I get my info from relatives/friends, trees, lists, DC's, obits & by physically visiting a cemetery. If I get info from a DC or obit I usually post the DC or obit right on the memorial. Otherwise I don't keep track of where I got my info so unless it's obvious, I don't remember.
Q - Are you related to this person?
A - I have a tree you're welcome to search & find out.
Q - How are you related to this person?
A - Unless it's obvious - I don't know. My tree has a feature that can figure it out but of course you have to pay for it & I don't.
Q - Do you have anymore info?
A - I have a tree, family site & a few Facebook family groups - plus a forum for Cherokees. Any info I had or have been given is posted on one of these sites or directly on the memorial itself. All of these sites have search features. If you don't find the info then I don't have it.
Q - Did you take this pic?
A - Unless there's a caption that says "pic courtesy so & so" then yes I did.
