Bio and Links
Bio Photo My most important projects are Hollywood Cemetery & Oakland (Atlanta City) Cemetery in Atlanta.

Thousands of hours have been spent working on Hollywood alone. The cemetery is in terrible condition due to the owner just not caring about those buried there. Much of it has re-forested itself to prolific growth conditions since 1970 when it was once again sold.

I add names to many cemeteries, but mostly work on Oakland and Hollywood. I research the names as if they were my own family, trying to add full names, maiden names, full dates, birth and death places and linking them to family members. I also search for parents when they are buried elsewhere, so they can be linked to them. I knew many of them had to be kin to each other of those buried there.

If I have added your family members (or friends) and they are not mine, I will gladly transfer them to you to maintain. Right now, I am not transferring Hollywood names, as I am still working on it. I will be happy to add anything that you wish to their pages, though.

Note: Unless you use the Edit button to ask for transfers (please do not ask on my bio page), your request will be ignored. Please do it correctly, as it makes your request much easier to fulfill. Also, if you are a member for a few days, do not ask for groups of transfers. The idea is to maintain the pages, not simply gather relatives and then forget about them.

Many we love have passed away too soon.....without reason.

We remember them often in a thousand different ways....In the morning.....in the night, when we look at the stars.....a date....a song.....a place. In memory of all those who left us all too soon. We will get to see you again some day.

The Story Tellers...We are the Chosen.

My feelings are in each family there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. To me, doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the story tellers of the tribe. All tribes have one. We have been called, as it were, by our genes.
Those who have gone before cry out to us: Tell our story. So, we do.

In finding them, we somehow find ourselves. How many graves have I stood before now and cried? I have lost count. How many times have I told the ancestors you have a wonderful family - you would be proud of us?

How many times have I walked up to a grave and felt somehow there was love there for me? I cannot say.

It goes beyond just documenting facts. It goes to who am I and why do I do the things I do. It goes to seeing a cemetery about to be lost forever to weeds and indifference and saying I can't let this happen. The bones here are bones of my bone and flesh of my flesh. It goes to doing something about it. It goes to pride in what our ancestors were able to accomplish. How they contributed to what we are today. It goes to respecting their hardships and losses, their never giving in or giving up, their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family.

It goes to deep pride that they fought to make and keep us a Nation. It goes to a deep and immense understanding that they were doing it for us. That we might be born who we are. That we might remember them. So we do. With love and caring and scribing each fact of their existence, because we are them and they are us.

PLEASE.......when you find your relative's page, leave flowers and at least a short note. In that note, state your relationship to that person. This is a great way to find living members of your family. If you leave nothing, they do not know you are out there somewhere. Leaving this lets them know that you are also kin to them and they will contact you. This is a win, win situation.

Martha Berry Rousseau
You have in Martha's information and I quote:
"Note: Her two sons, David R. Rousseau and Reuben Jordan Rousseau are also both buried here." Martha is not the mother of Reuben Jordan but rather Reuben "Rube" Chatman Rousseau. My cousin Fay Thompson called this to my attention. She also states that on John Rousseau, husband of Martha, you have the same mistake. Reuben Jordan is a son of David R. and Nancy Ann Tipton Rousseau and therefore a grandchild of Martha Berry and John Rousseau. Can you please correct these mistakes. Are you kin to Martha??? She is my (and my cousin Fay's) Great-Great-Great Grandmother. Thanks much for your consideration, Pat McCown Throneberry FINDAGRAVE NUMBER 47754735 Jan 23,2015

RE: Holcomb(e) & Shierling names
Thank you for the info. I went to the edit to ask for transferal, but it isn't on of the choices. I have had some others transferred to me via the edit, but I don't remember how. Anyway, I will keep trying. Maybe I am overlooking it.

Thanks

RE: W. S. Holcomb
Thank you Judy. I am a member of familysearch.org but I didn't know I could find records the way you describe. I have to try it. Again, thanks for all the photos you have taken with the death certificate on W. S., I can now hopefully find more on Starke.

Great job on your dedication to post photos.

W. S. Holcomb
Judy
You are maintaining a W. S. Holcomb whose death certificate you have as a photo. Would you happen to have a copy of the death certificate and if so, could I possibly get a picture of it from you. William Sterling (W.S.) seems to be my ggg uncle and Starke is my GGGG grandfather.

I have been searching for anything on Stark Nathan or Nathan Starke for years. His father is Clayton Holcomb which I have sent you messages about already.

Thank you for your work on photos. Are you by chance related to the Holcombs or just graving?

Debbie

Gustin Goodwin
Hi Judy, I declined your edit for him as his CSA Military records indicate his name as Gustin, as well as his son, Gustin, Jr. I had already noted the alternate spelling as Augustine. Thanks for all you do on Find A Grave. And for transferring memorials of my family when I've asked. You are a joy to work with. Birdgirl.

I pray I did whatever you asked me to do. I'm new at this and have little time to spend on it and was just checking my posts today. Pat

Hosey C Holcombe
Hi Judy
Can you tell me where you got the name for H. C. Holcombe. I have been searching for Clayton Holcombe and this is the closest to him I have seen. The b and d dates match, but not the spouse. My H. C. (Clayton) was married to Elizabeth Vernon (m 1849) and Margaret Whaley (m1865). I don't have anything with a mention of Raimuth (var. spelling). If H. C. is Hosey C I think there is an mistake with Elizabeth as a spouse. I also have Clayton and Margaret as having a son Hosea (b. 1869). Can you see if you can help me clear my confusion.

Clayton and Elizabeth had a son, Starke N. (1851 Fayette Co. - 1932 Putnam Co.) or Nathan S. Would you possibly have any record of him.

Thanks so much for your help.

RE: Eugene J. Farnsworth
I've found Eugene's other family and just finished working on his Aunt Elizabeth Sooy's line. I know so many moved back then, far more than we imagine today, but it seemed odd that he had a home there when he died, but was living in Philly a year earlier. Sounds like the move might have been short-lived. I believe she came back north after his death. If I can find her burial (if I don't already have it - I'm not where I can see at the moment), I'll supply the spousal link. He's a distant cousin through his mother's family. If you'd like to transfer him, that is fine. But, it isn't necessary.
