Sally Heys
Heys Family
Hi, I am Sally Heys , married into the Heys family. The family came from England around March 1903 on the SS Umbria. Many relatives were left back in England. Do you have any knowledge of this branch of the family:
George and Ruth Robertshaw Heys
Their children Fanny, Greenwood, Alfred, Betty Ann,and Robertshaw. The 1881 census shows them in Elland Cum Greetland, York, England.

Robertshaw and his wife Mary Ann Hughes Heys emigrated to the U.S.A. and moved to Ohio. Robertshaw is my husband's grandfather and shares his name.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Sally

Not trying to nag, just FYI that we've cleared over 300 requests this spring at Calvary in Cleveland and now have 565 requests. We'd be happy to clear your request(s) but some/all do not have plot information. Please call (216) 641-7575 and obtain plot information. We most likely already have a plot map but will let you know once we have plot info if we also need a map. Thanks!

You've put in request(s) at Calvary in Cleveland. Several of us are working to clear the more than 730 requests. With 400,000 burials and 300 acres, if you could please obtain plot information AND a plot map one of us will be more likely to be able to fill the request, as the office will only give out a little information to each person. The office phone number is (216) 641-7575. On my page I have the plot maps listed that we already have.

You can try to tell them you'll be visiting when they're closed, etc. So far everyone who's called has been successful in having a map mailed. If you get one let me know and I'll give you my e-mail address. With thousands of graves per section a plot map would be VERY helpful. Without plot information it's basically impossible.

John Johnson # 15568385
Hi Jane,
Just transferred John & Annie to you :)
Like you said, on the off chance he's not yours, you are bound to find some info along the way that can be added to the memorials.
Good luck with your research, I hope you are right and he's your guy!

Hi again Jane,
I had no idea you lived in England, I have listed a lot of memorials for people who came from Canada and various European countries, but think this is only the 3rd time I've heard from someone outside the USA.
Here are some links if you don't have them...

North Burial Ground

Rhode Island Historical Society Library

Providence Public Library Rhode Island Collection

Maybe you can find someone at one of those to help you via email.
Also, if you went to the Find a Grave discussion forums, there is a Rhode Island never know, maybe someone who is still in Rhode Island can help you out.
Last of all...would you like me to transfer John & Annie's memorials to your care? Then you can add any info as you find it. Wouldn't be a problem, just let me know :)

Hi Jane,
John and Annie Johnson...boy those are gonna be tough names to research!
I know nothing about them. I did find this in the Rhode Island death records at

John Johnson
Rhode Island Deaths and Burials, 1802-1950
birth: 1850
death: 21 Sep 1907 Providence, Providence, Rhode Island
parents: James Johnson, Margaret Johnson
spouse: Annie Johnson

That's about all I have to offer. Maybe you could try contacting North Burial Ground, see if they have anything in their records, including confirming if Annie is there or not. Also the RI Historical Society Library has pretty much every Rhode Island newspaper on microfilm, maybe they can check the Providence newspaper.
That's the best I can offer.
