I started working on my family tree in 1978 when my mother got me involved in helping her do research. I am now retired and have more time to spend doing genealogy.
4 years ago I discovered Find-A-Grave and have been hooked ever since.
My main focus is on the families of Valentine, Virnig, Faust, Maiette, Clourate, Swain, Roots, Jolley, Powell, Fairfax, Gillam and their extended families.
I also have extended roots in the founding families from Nantucket Island including, Swain, Barnard, Macy, Starbuck and Mills.
I find old cemeteries fascinating, every old cemetery has it's own unique personality, unlike new cemeteries that are laid out in neat little rows with flat headstones.
So much family history can be found in old cemeteries.
Every grave has a story behind it and a story to tell.
Feel free to use any photos that I have posted, for non commercial use only. (Your personal family trees and Ancestry.com are OK)
Please DO NOT repost my photos on Find-A-Grave as your own.
I was very fortunate to have many family photos passed along to me, I have posted family photos to share with extended family members that were not fortunate enough to have these photos.
Feel free to use and copy "Family Photos", I have posted them to share with extended family members.
Please use the "EDIT TAB" on each individual page when requesting changes, additions, links, or transfers.
I will gladly transfer any memorial that is not part of my family.
Please do not make duplicate memorial pages!
Duplicate pages really mess up the linking process!
Search the name you are looking for before making a page, if the page already exists request a transfer!
=================== 'HTML' ===================
Find-A-Grave pages will except 'Limited HTML' promps.
You can use standard BOLD opening and closing promps to add Bold words.
You can use standard LINK opening and closing promps to add links to your pages.
You can use standard Italics opening and closing promps to add Italics text to your pages.
To change the Size of the columns use a row of = signs in the first line of copy in the Bio section.
Example, to make larger Bio. Copy space with smaller photos.
Size and Color promps do not work...

Thank you so much for checking on stone for Mary Parker. You went above and beyond in searching that entire cemetery and I am deeply grateful. Thank you as well for your many contributions to findagrave.

Rick - I expected he was in a "pauper" section, as he died a lonely, broken man. My Dad looked for him until the day he died (May 1989) & I finally found him. His death certificate stated "suicide" on April 7, 1936, which was my Dad's 12th birthday. Talk about REALLY sad... That is why I appreciate everything you went through to bring this little piece of him to my family. You DID go well beyond what I expected, so rest assured that if you ever need anything in WI, let me know...

Thank you for the photo !! No words to describe what it feels like to see that the "missing" Grandfather/Father is somewhere out there 80 years after he disappeared...

Hi Rick -
Thanks so much for trying to find his headstone. I do appreciate you time and effort in trying to find it. Also, am grateful for the photo you took for his burial site.
Rick, thank you so much for the photo of my friend's mother's marker. I'm in MI and only had the black & white copy. Your time and efforts are very much appreciated! MSB for Christina Margaret Forte

Even tho he doesn't have a memorial marker, it nice to have a photo where his burial is located.
Thank you very much.
