Thank you for taking and posting this picture. Did you happen to notice if his wife's death date was included on the monument?

I am a little perplexed by the details of the headstone. My Grant line was in Washington, Morgan and Noble Counties in Ohio during this same time. Samuel Grant and Abigail Bickford had a son named John H Grant who was in the 42nd OVI, Company D. I'd like to work through this with someone. My email is govols@carolina.rr.com.
Regards...jon grant

Hattie Butler
Thanks for the image of Hattie Butler's headstone. When Natalie Herdman set up the memorial, she wrote that the cemetery records indicated that there was no headstone. Hattie is on the 1870 census as an infant, but her age varies from census to census (younger) after that. Her mother's headstone has the wrong year of death, so maybe my Circleville Butlers just had bad luck with headstones. Was there a headstone for her brother John nearby?

Thanks so much for taking the photo of the grave of Edward Throne, Civil War soldier. I will put a link to his memorial page on my site for the 120th OVI soldiers.
