RE: Simpson Taylor gravestone
My husband and I went back over to the grave yard yesterday evening to get more pictures and see if we could read the inscription. On the monument there is a very old and worn inscription on both sides that are unreadable, not to mention all the lichen on the stone. So, we are going to try to do a rubbing as soon as it finally stops raining around here. Just curious, was Simpson Taylor a famous figure during the war? BTW, his headstone marker is just a marker with no inscription at all. It's his monument that is inscribed.

RE: Simpson Taylor gravestone
Hi, we are going back to this cemetery soon to fulfill more photo requests. I will go back to Simpson C. Taylor's marker and headstone to see if we can find any more inscriptions or markers and I'll let you know what we find.

RE: James Leonard grave
Your welcome. Just to make it perfectly clear, the city verified that his remains were still there but there is no marker. Give the direct descendant the info, there is a waiting list but a marker will be placed if requested.

James Leonard
In reference to Chris Maes' comments he is not 100% correct. At he time the cemetery was turned into a park none of the remains were removed unless requested so by close relatives, most of the headstones were removed except for some of the smaller ground level markers.

I went to Cemetery Memorial Park today and looked for Mr Leonard's marker/headstone but was unable to locate it, I also contacted the City of Ventura and was told that there is not marker for James Leonard.

If you are a close relative you can request a marker for Mr Leonard's plot, contact Barbara Cavalli at (805) 652 4553 or bcavalli@cityofventura.net.
