Rules are rules, and in this case, guidelines are rules. Please abide by them. They aren't that difficult. |

The FAQs are definitely guiderules...or are they rulelines? No matter. The FAQs *absolutely* detail site policy and all members are expected to follow them and abide by them.

Having been a beta tester for the EDIT system, have nothing but praise for this feature! It's been a huge leap in getting the name fields clean up per the naming conventions found in the FAQs (these are not optional nor subject to interpretation).
The naming convention clean-ups I am concentrating on are:
Suffixes and Prefixes do not belong in any Name Field.
Maiden Name - Maiden name of a married individual, if known (otherwise leave blank). If the deceased was never married, then the surname should be placed in the "Last Name" field, NOT in the "Maiden Name" field.
Last Name - Do not include honorary or other suffixes in the Last Name field.
Any photos I've added to this site are open for anyone to use, no permission or credit needed.
I strictly adhere to the Find A Grave guidelines regarding transfers. No exceptions. Requests made outside of the guidelines, or do not state relationship, are no longer being acknowledged. Virtual cemeteries are the way to "gather" your ancestors together.
Copy-and-paste census, military and other data is not a "bio". Please don't send these type of bios because they will not be added.
Finally, I will not add a link to a burial unknown memorial. This site is named Find a GRAVE for a reason. Not a difficult concept.

How did you determine his first name was Male?
|Joey Alexander||Sorry. It wouldn't send unless I did this|

You have a memorial for Kenneth Edward Ferguson
in the Bay Pines National Cemetery. I was wondering if you have any additional information on him. I believe him to be my great uncle. His obituary has a different date on it. If this is the same person, could you please update his memorial and add his obituary and link him to his parents for me. I'll send the info In the correction box. The obituary was sent to me in an email so there might be a typo in the email for death date.
Thank you so much

Thank you for linking Barbara Davis #73000747 to her father.
If you should have time, I would be pleased if you would read my Bio and visit my parents' memorials by clicking on their links.

I find it amusing that the ONLY volunteer photo that you have ever taken was for a memorial that you created and is obviously related to you, Atkins?
I wish that you would spend more time taking volunteer photos and leave me alone.
|Joe Mckenzie||This is the second time you have tried|
I don't even have to think of something to right OMG I spelled right rong.
I see once again you are editing memorials incorrectly.
When a soul's headstone reads Mrs Firstnameofhusband -Lastname, leave it alone.
In these cases the Mrs becomes part of her first tombstone name not a prefix- Others have messaged you on this.
Find A Grave asks we post names as they appear on the stone, not as we would like to correct them.
Thanks for all you do for FindaGrave.

May I have my uncle's memorial transferred to me, please? Uncle Charlie was married to my aunt Minnie (my dad's sister), and we were very close when I was growing up. I would like to update with more info. Thank you.
|Winnette||Guidelines vs Rules|
If in fact the guidelines are rules, then they should be worded as just that. Many times contributors have refused to change things, saying, those are only guidelines, they are not rules.
Also, Every time a guideline is changed all contributors need to be notified. I try as hard as hard as I can to catch up and clean up and then something else changes and I have to change them all again.
So you and A. J. need to think this over. For sometime now, the same rule does not apply to everyone. That is dead wrong. I have turned in at least 50 unknown burials that had been that way for years.
As for me, I will no longer be adding memorials, simply trying to clean mine up. Then transfer those to my son that are his family and those to my daughter that is her family.
I will keep my own and no others, but, it will not be done over night.
Thanks for letting me vent

Apologize for the typo...
Totally agree with "Nbowers". Alot of "volunteer" time is dedicated to this site.
