|APRIL GREENMAN||Arthur Cemetery, Pike Co. Missouri|
I recently started working on cleaning and restoring this cemetery that is located on my property in Pike Co. I was so excited to see that the cemetery on our property had people looking for grave photos. I've submitted a couple photos you requested and added Rhonda Arthur & Manettie Fucet to the people buried there.
I have a couple of questions that you may know the answers to. The Find a Grave site shows 9 graves. To date we have found tombstones for 18 people. 3 of the larger tombstones are unreadable and I plan to remove the moss and try to do a rubbing. 7 of the tombstones are granite about the size of patio blocks with only initials on them. The initials are:
A.E.A. ; J.F.T. ; R.A. ; T.A.A. ; E.A. & J.S.A. (on 1 marker); E.D. J.A. (on 1 marker) the last small one is totally unmarked.
In your research are you looking for any Arthur graves with these initials? Any idea why some would have the larger stones and some only these small blocks? Was the decision financial do you think or perhaps these were slaves? I am new to this and hope you might be able to shed some light on this. Do you perhaps have other names that may be the ones on the larger stones that need cleaning/restoring that you can provide?
The other question I have that you may know is about Rhonda Arthur. I added her info to the Arthur cemetery but I don't have the year of her death or maiden name. She was married to J.J. Arthur. Do you have any further info on her?
Thank you for caring. Look forward to hearing from you. (I tried to send this via email but it wouldn't go through).
