Bio and Links
Bio Photo Family surnames I am currently researching: WININGER/WINEGAR, THORN/THORNE, POULSON, McINTYRE, SANDERS, BRANSON, BARNES, MILLS, CHAPPELL, MACY, PRICE, LANDERS, TUCKER, RENO, GREGOROSKI/GREGOSKI/GREGORSKI/GRZEGOZEWSKI, HARVILL, PARKER, COLLINGS, BROCK, WEAVER and SHEPHERD. I was born in Jasper County, Missouri and have 2 sons, who still live there. I have relatives scattered here and there.

I am continuing research on a particular bit of the history of McDonald County, Missouri (sometimes called McDonald Territory) and have a page concerning their well-known attempt to secede from the State of Missouri, in 1961. (See the link given below.) Thank you to the then-Governor Orval Faubus of Arkansas who graciously offered to accept McDonald County into the State of Arkansas. "After all," he said, "it would offset the "bootheel." Oddly enough, to this day, McDonald County, although in Missouri, remains as a part of the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers Federal Metropolitan Statistical Area. To me, the incident provided a fascinating story, which tied in to another interest: philately and cover collecting (local posts).

The Find A Grave site provides a way for me to share a lifelong interest in history, of which tombstones play an inseparable role. I worked in investigations for almost 20 years, so I miss those kinds of challenges. I hope to be of some service as a volunteer, to those involved in genealogical research. While I'm new to this site, I have been doing research along these same lines for some years.

RE-USE OF PHOTOGRAPHS: For now, and subject to revision if such grant is abused, I will grant blanket permission for (you) to use any photograph I have taken, as long as it is for non-commercial use and not for monetary gain, and will be used for your personal documentation only in historical or genealogical research purposes; and will not be re-posted to a subsequent website who as a matter of course, makes claim to legal ownership of photograph(s) uploaded to their site, for their own purposes. Please credit any photos so used as follows: " Find A Grave contributor # 48190645, used with permission. [SEE: http://findagrave.com]"

Please note that I am most likely not related to the deceased person of memorials I have entered, and no claim of "ownership" is intended. In some instances, creating an online memorial at this site, just felt like the right thing to do, given the time that had elapsed since their passing. I have no way of knowing if there are living relatives interested in doing the work in maintaining such an online memorial. If you would like to have a memorial transferred to you for active maintenance, follow the suggested Find A Grave guidelines and send me a request with the details of your interest and your connection to that person.

Never mind my prior comments on the new quick-edit feature on FAG! The manager of the memorial has to check it; it does NOT work the way I thought it did. I certainly didn't intend to over-burden or cause a lot of work for anyone; I really thought it was an automated process and didn't realize that the changes I was suggesting, including such relatively simple things as plot numbers, were all going back to the original manager anyway. I certainly am not trying to pick on anyone; I was hoping to add information that would be useful to researchers and genealogists. So, Folks, if you would, would you please remember to check your "EDITS" tab on your profile every so often? I have had people tell me they didn't realize they were supposed to. If you do the edits outside of the system, they will still show up on my end as "pending." In other words, if you don't click on the tab, and then go through the steps, you can make an edit, but it doesn't clear it from the system. So, this is all much appreciated!!
--------

Here's my favorite new "trick" from an uncooperative FAGer; declining multiple additions of plot number(s) for a particular cemetery because: "the information DIFFERS from theirs" -- (theirs is blank)!! In other words, they just don't want to change "their" memorial from the way it is now. Amazing. AND another new one; refusing addition of information that THEY already have included in the bio they wrote for the memorial, but they apparently don't like to use the "nickname" field that FAG provides for when the person was called by something different than what appears on the marker. Remember, this is not info I added, it is THEIR own info I was trying to add. Nope, declined. ! Come on people, this approaches ignorance and is just sheer non-cooperation.
---------

Current number of pending "EDITS": 1,097 (As of 30 JULY 2014)

Thank you to those who have checked and processed your edits!

=========================================

Please feel free to send me corrections or additions to any entries I have created. I am a "detail" person and I prefer the records to be correct and precise. If you are requesting changes in any memorial that I have created, please list numbers for those involved and give the details and sources. Please do use the "edit" tab at the top of the memorial page in question, to request such changes.

RE: Memorials
If the military rank and service is on the marker, that should go on the inscription part of the memorial and that can be done with the new edit.

RE: Memorials
From the guidelines...something new.

Find A Grave contributors may submit updates to the Name, Birth and Death Dates and Locations, and Plot fields and relationship links via a new Edit System. When they submit edits to any of those fields, the managing contributor will no longer receive an email notification. These edits are now waiting for the managing contributor's review on their Contributor Page. To review edits to these fields that have been submitted for memorials you manage, go to your 'Contributor Tools' and click on the 'Edits' tab.
The edits awaiting your approval will be listed with a link to the memorial page, the public name of the contributor who submitted the edit and the date it was submitted, and the information currently in the field and the suggested updated information for the field.

There is then the option to Accept, Decline, or Ignore the submitted edit. If you Accept the edit, the changes will automatically be made for you and the person who submitted the update will receive an email confirming that the edits were made. If you Decline the edit, you will need to select a reason why you are declining it, and the changes will not be made the person who submitted the update will receive an email with the reason why you declined it. If you Ignore the edit, it will auto be accepted after 21 days.

The new system should save contributors a lot time in making edits to their memorials, as the managing contributor will no longer have to search for the memorial page, open the edit feature, search for city locations, etc. It will automatically go through with the contributor's approval.

If you submit bio information and no reply within 30 days, you can ask "Edit" to post it for at edit@findagrave.com.

Bio inform on flowers
I don't know if you have read the Find A Grave guidelines or not, but bio information on flowers is deleted by the website managers. I saw you left a few. I hate bio information being lost so please use the SAC to have the information posted directly on the memorial under the bio section.

Thanks.

RE: FERGUSON, Allie/Elsie ?
Are you related to the family? Waller's son John was also a sheriff or deputy sheriff in Stilwell. Not sure which title. Did you by chance copy the information on Waller and if so can I obtain a copy? Or is there an address where I can write to obtain more data on him or maybe his son?

RE: FERGUSON, Allie/Elsie ?
Wes, Elsie went by Allie per family history. I had done this family some time ago and hadn't realized I've not finished or connected everyone. It is done, thank you. Dee

Joe Scraper
RE: Dick Scraper
Hi Wes,

I believe you refer to Dick Scraper at the old Scraper burial ground north of Lost City. It was one of the many family cemeteries that fell by the wayside when the Cherokee that lived there died out or were forced out by the invasion of the white people (ie Trail of Tears, Dawes Commission, Oklahoma land rush, etc.)
I think this Scraper family was from a distance uncle of mine, Wilson Scraper. He had a son, Runabout Scraper (AKA Runabout Wilson) who lived in the region of that cemetery.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
