As a youngster Mama, would take me to family cemeteries. In the woods, in pastures, in the middle of nowhere. She would tell me who they were and how we were kin. I didn't realize then that she was expecting me to carry on the stories of our family and of their final resting places. She showed me the graves of her grandmother's first babies. She told me how her grandmother had fretted when it came time to move. "Who will care for the graves?" I didn't understand then what I know now. Time takes its toll on the stones and those in the woods can be lost. |
So today I try to record what I can, even those that are not my kin. These stones represent where our loved ones rest.
If I have entered a relative/ancestor/friend of yours and you would like ownership of their memorial, please send a "correction" notice requesting the transfer - it is my pleasure to reunite family.
PHOTOS: I've walked cemeteries for those that haven't yet found them, or cannot walk them for whatever reason. I gladly give permission for the use of these photos for your research.
If I have helped you, I sure would appreciate it if you would leave flowers for my Mama - she loved them so.

Would you mind contacting me (Find A Grave #48252622), as I have a question concerning the above referenced Find A Grave, which you have transferred.
|Dorothy Lindquist||Thanks for transfer|
Thank you for transferring my maternal grandmother, Lena Gilbert, to my account. I appreciate it very much. I added some photos and hope to do a bio soon.
|Dorothy Lindquist||Thank you|
Thanks for transferring the members of the Gilbert family memorials to me. I appreciate all of the work you did in posting their information on Find-A-Grave and maintaining their sites. I liked the story you told about your Mamma and I would like to leave some flowers in honor of her.
|Dorothy Lindquist||Transfer Request|
I forgot to mention that I would also like to request a transfer for my grandparents, William C. Gilbert and Lena Cornelia Ruark Gilbert so that I can manage their memorial pages also. They were my mother's parents and I would like to update their pages.
Thank you for everything you do for Find-A-Grave. It is truly a labor of love.
Have a Great Day!
|Dorothy Lindquist||Transfer Request|
First, I want to thank you for your hard work and dedication to posting people on Find-A-Grave. It means a lot to be able to find my relatives here. I noticed that you are managing the memorial pages for George W. Gilbert and Laura Ann Gilbert. They are my Great-grandparents on my mother's side. I would appreciate very much if you could transfer them to me so I can update the files.
Are you related to the Gilbert family? If so, let me know how you are connected to them. We may be related. You can e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for all that you are doing.
Thank you for transferring my family members to me. I didn't expect that. I do have information about 2 more, Wade Pickens Roof and Elyard Belton Roof (my great grandfather). There were a couple of children who died, one as a baby and one at age 13. I did not see them listed. I know there are some unmarked graves in the Roof Cemetery. Did you photograph them? Thank you for all of your hard work.

|L. Hearn||Hearnville Cemetery|
First of all, thanks for taking the photo of the Hearnville Cemetery (Putnam Co, GA) in 2007. I'd like to ask you a specific question about that. If you don't mind, would you go to our website and click on "Contact us by email"? A roundabout method, but it cuts down on spam. Website: http://www.hearnweb.com/
Thanks, L. Hearn
P.S. On that website, we have a photo-account of a cleanup of that cemetery some of our family conducted three years later: http://www.hearnweb.com/galleries/hearnville_cemetery/index.html
