Marcy Hammers
R.A. Garrison # 48259320
Dear Jane Anne Pennington, My name is Marcy(Garrison) Hammers, my Find A Grave member # is 47911021. I am writing you in regards to my second great grandmother Rose Ann Shumate Garrison. She married my second great grandfather George Washington Garrison. He was killed in Pea Ridge, Arkansas during the Civil War. I have been trying to located Rose Ann & I see you have found her. I appreciate all the work you do for other genealogist & people like me that are trying to located the ancestors. I am wondering if you would consider transferring Rose Ann to me. I would greatly appreciate it if you could. I am still looking for George Washington Garrison SR. Rose was pregnant with my great grandfather George Washington Jr. When George W. Garrison SR. was killed. If you have any questions please feel free to e mail me at
I didn't know if you are related to the Garrison's or Shumate's. I am always excited to find relatives that are still alive when I'm researching.
Thank You
Marcy (Garrison) Hammers

Jane, I'm in the process of moving to Missouri. Bear Creek Cemetery is near a town that I will be living close to. It is sadly neglected but I plan to do something about that when I get over there. I've tried to read some of the stones that appear to be field stones with hand etching and can hardly make anything out. Do you have a book on the history of this area? It appears that there are some Rectors that are buried in the cemetery and they show up on the census records as well. Just trying to find out more if possible. I have also started a tree on entitled The Lives of Bear Creek Cemetery.

RE: Charles Burton Landram 1848-1918
I see the person who posted this man's memorial has passed away. I see you posted the photo of his grave so I am sending you this info. There is an article in the Chariton Courier 3-4-1910 page 1, "Missouri Tobacco", it is about C.B. Landram. The Chariton Courier is online on the Library of Congress site "Chronicling America" Historic American Newspapers. Separately, there is a post by Betty Landram Edmonds on the Vandiver Family Genealogy Forum, 2-19-2005 on Frank James Landram and his parents Charles Landram and Della Vandiver, which contains a lot of family history. I am not related to any of these people, but hope someone who is can use this info.

RE: Bear Creek
I'm curious if you got the names from doing a survey of the cemetery of if you have a book that lists those that are buried there. There is one very old marker that I'm trying to figure out the name on it. My husband thinks it says Grant Rector. There, of course, are many that are illegible and some that probably didn't have any writing.

RE: Bear Creek
As far as I know I don't have any family buried there. My husband and I were just going along Route 66 and saw the sign. We like looking around older cemeteries.

Did you know that this is the daughter of George Donner, leader of the Donner Party that went through the Sierra Madras? Amazing what you find out about the records you've documented. Thank you for your dedication and hard work! mgblue

Edna L. Kavanaugh Springer Enzor
I have a puzzle . . .I have found two records for Edna L. Kavanaugh Springer Enzor: #38255948, Staley Mound Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Cass Co., MO & #8828443, Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka, Shawnee Co., Kansas. Do you have any idea if one is a memorial and one is her actual grave? Her gravesite in Kansas is beside her second husband Roscoe G. Enzor.
