...Once upon a time I walked across this hard, cold earth, and when I reached the end of my journey I looked back and beheld that the winds of time had erased all signs that I was ever here. But if you look closely, you will see an indentation here and a groove there, and if we are both very lucky you will find a foot print. And if you will look and find the signs of my passing, and remember me for a day or a season, I will be grateful.

RE: Vital Marquis
Kurt, You are very kind. I am desperately searching for Vital Amos Marquis. I located him on 1910 census for Chelsea, Kennebec, Maine (age 29 with wife Pheobe (Mayo) age 30 along with their children Gertrude, Ella, Edward, Aurelia and Grace. I also found his draft card of Sept 11,1918 stating his birth to be 12/21/1881. He is not on the family census of 1920, but 3 more children are (Blanche, Daniel and William) in Chelsea,Maine nor thereafter, so my guess is he passed sometime between 1918 and 1920. That is why I was questioning if the stone had correct birth of 1871. Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

R. Pinkerton
Thanks, Kurt, but this is another Pinkerton line I have had an interest in. But, I am not related - at least closely. During my research over the years, I amassed much Pinkerton genealogy and now I am going through my files and entering any appropriate info to these memorials.

Rose Shanaver
I went to City Hall where they keep the records for Maple Grove Cemetery and they gave me: Sec 2 BLK C Lot 43, there was a headstone for a Charles R. Shanaver but no Rose Shanaver. I read your memorial and see that Charles is her son. A few rows up there is a Abercrombie. Sorry I couldn't find Rose's headstone.
The lady I talk to at City Hall said her records indicated that Rose died Aug 13, 1980.
Again I am sorry I couldn't find her headstone. If I can be of any more help please let me know.

RE: Duplicates
Thanks for pointing out the duplicates. Some were where I had the last name wrong, but some I just don't know how that happened. Anyway, I have deleted them

My reply:
I know what happened. Instead of adding your memorials to the already established Find A Grave huge combined "Trinity Lutheran Cemetery also known as: Benton County Cemetery, Sacred Heart Cemetery", you made or added yours to a second Benton Co Cemetery on Find A Grave. Last week this cemetery was merged into the huge combined cemetery. Apparently, in reality, these are three separate but adjoining cemeteries to each sharing the same gate and signs, but on Find A Grave they are one huge one. I guess if you know the location that could be added on each memorial under the plot information.

I realize that you are a fairly new member. The guidelines for Find A Grave are located on the left of any memorial. The purpose for the website is to record grave sites....the first thing you need is the "last resting place of the body" and you have 30 days to find it. The site isn't recording deaths. If you ever need more help with the website, join the discussion forum as there seasoned members and administrators there to help you.

Happy graving.

RE: Herman Baker
"Those probably are the same, so I will delete mine. Thanks for pointing that out."

My reply:

I didn't but the member who made the memorial did. So sorry that there are so many duplicated memorial with cemeteries merged but merging may keep the duplicates down in the further.

Thank you for all you have done for Find A Grave.
