"Life's Greatest Handicap is Being Contented."|
"I believe that love and prayer are the most important things in life," -Anne Nichols
Excerpt from "Abie's Irish Rose:
FATHER WHALEN. Sure, we're all trying to get to the same place when we pass on. We're just going by different routes. We can't all go on the same train.
RABBI. And just because you are not riding on my train, why should I say your train won't get there?
— Anne Nichols (1891-1966), American playwright; from Abie's Irish Rose (play), 1922
Haunting eyes peering at me
Through the veiled, forgotten past;
Spirit voices, phantom actors
Beckon me to join their cast...
Time unravels ancient stitches
As I vainly grasp each thread;
Scattered whispers, faded photos
Tell the tale of those long dead...
Withered memories pressed like flowers
Speak of young love once in bloom;
Scented traces faintly linger
Over long-neglected tomb...
Ghostly chanting leads me blindly
Down each darkened corridor..
As I ponder things that once were
-Things that are will be no more...
One of my favorite poems by Alan Seeger:
"I Have a Rendezvous with Death"
I have a rendezvous with Death
At some disputed barricade,
When Spring comes back with rustling shade
And apple-blossoms fill the air--
I have a rendezvous with Death
When Spring brings back blue days and fair.
It may be he shall take my hand
And lead me into his dark land
And close my eyes and quench my breath--
It may be I shall pass him still..
I have a rendezvous with Death
On some scarred slope or battered hill.
When Spring comes round again this year
And the first meadow-flowers appear.
God knows 'twere better to be deep
Pillowed in silk and scented down.
Where love throbs out in blissful sleep,
Pulse nigh to pulse and breath to breath,
Where hushed awakenings are dear--
But I've a rendezvous with Death
At midnight in some flaming town,
When Spring trips forth again this year,
And I to my pledged word am true,
I shall not fail that rendezvous.
-Alan Seeger (1888-1916)
I would like to take this time to thank all of those who have visited my family including, my mother Hazel Eileen Westberry Paesano and granny, Vera Griffis Westberry (who got me started on genealogy). Also many thanks to those who have visited my Anne Nichols and Adelaide Matthews Memorials. These were two wonderful ladies of the theatre who knew each other as friends and wrote plays together. I am fortunate to be related to Anne and to have known her and Adelaide through the eyes and memories of my friend, Janet. I am always looking for more information on Anne and Adelaide. If anyone has information please contact me or Janet (capecodder). After all, Anne's most popular quote was:
"Life's Greatest Handicap Is Being Contented!"
The following poem was found in my mother's (Hazel Westberry Paesano) belongings after she passed:
"The Time Is Now"
If you are ever going to love me,
Love me now while I can know
The sweet and tender feelings,
Which from true affection flow.
Love me now, while I am living...
Do not wait until I'm gone
And then have it chiseled in marble,
Sweet words on ice-cold stone.
If you have tender thoughts of me, please tell me now...
If you wait until I am sleeping, never to awaken,
There will be death between us and I won't hear you then.
So, if you love me , even a little bit,
Let me know while I am living so I can treasure it.

Welcome! I'm not sure if you had the request for James Boggs also, but I found a headstone for a James Boggs and I believe I added it to a different profile.

Thank you, I shall try to contact Jennifer and will certainly put you on my notification list -- thanks for asking!
|John Gardner||William Russ Eldridge Stinson|
You did the memorial for Mr. Stinson several years ago. Do you have any contact info for the family? I am working on a biography of Victor Young and he worked with Mr. Stinson in Paramount's music dept.

Thank you for taking the time to search and see if you have any photos.
You can contact or send any photos to:
|Oldpa Dennis||RE: Henry Duffy Pictures|
I was happy to send you the revised book, Bob. Don't expect to find a lot of new information. Most of the changes were clarification of details along with the addition of the new pictures as well as adding about 100 new play titles in the appendix. Henry's daughter, Pat, had a treasure trove of pictures from the theatrical career of Henry and Dale (the new pictures in the book are from that collection). I digitized most of the collection and would be happy to provide you with the picture files on a thumb drive if you wish.
|HarperSirmans||Justina "Tiny" Westberry Harper|
I am a direct descendant of Tiny Westberry Harper. Unfortunately I know little about her and have only seen 2 pictures of her until I came across the photo associated with Lemuel Westberry.
Do you have additional photos of Tiny's family? I am especially interested in any that might include Nolan Harper. If so are you interested in sharing digital copies of these photo?
Thank you in advance for you consideration in this request and also thank you so much for sharing this treasure of a photo.
|juliana usina||RE: Ella and Mildred Carter|
Ok, thanks for responding, i'll look into it through other sources to make sure but i think Mildred's is later, maybe 1903?
|juliana usina||Ella and Mildred Carter|
Hi, i have noticed that my grandmother shares the same year as Mildred on birth dates, and someone sent me a message telling me that one of them were wrong, funny thing is they put it where you send flowers and not in the messages, so which is the wrong dates on them?
