My reason for becoming a FAG contributor was to repay the kindness of strangers who enabled me to locate the final resting place of my ancestors and relatives. Each time I create a memorial I delight in thinking that it may someday provide comfort to a loved one or valuable information to a genealogist. |
It is great to find a memorial for a loved one and, from personal experience, if there are photos the experience is FABULOUS! I make every effort to include at least one photo in each of my memorials unless, of course, the grave is unmarked.
Transfers - Please use the "Edit" tab on the memorial, send a "Suggest a Correction" including your "ID number". I'm more than happy to transfer memorials to their RELATIVES.
If FAMILY MEMBERS wish to have a memorial deleted I will do so, no questions asked.
From FAG RULES & REGS:
Before adding a memorial, you should search the cemetery to see if a record with that name has already been added. (I ALWAYS DO THIS, BUT ON OCCASION, CREATE A DUPLICATE UNINTENTIONALLY) If you find a memorial has been added but has incomplete or incorrect information, instead of creating a duplicate memorial you should use the tools provided to submit corrections/additions via the "Suggest A Correction" link under the 'Edit' tab on the upper right of the memorial. NOTE THE FOLLOWING: In regard to duplicates, a memorial with a correct known burial location will always be preferred over an unknown burial location. MORE THAN ONCE I HAVE BEEN ADMONISHED AND INSTRUCTED TO DELETE A MEMORIAL CREATED FROM A HEADSTONE PHOTO. "FLOATER" MEMORIALS, OR A MEMORIAL CREATED IN THE WRONG CEMETERY, OBVIOUSLY DO NOT HAVE PRIORITY UNDER FAG RULES.
FAG asks that we avoid creating "pre-need" memorials for obvious reasons. I know how I would react if my demise was prematurely announced to the world. Pre-need memorials may unnecessarily distress and confuse the person's family and friends.
Please note, I will NO LONGER delete photos on memorials I created that are managed by someone other than a "family member" as defined by FAG. Requests of this nature are a waste of my time and offensive.
Some dates/names on the headstones are hard to read. If you can help, please click the Edit tab at the top and send me a message. I create "Unknown Unknown" memorials if both the given and surname are illegible and use "Unknown" in the appropriate spot if one of the names is clear. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated in the completion of these memorials.
Linking family members is great and I will add any FAG approved data to memorials. Although, I think it would be wonderful to provide FULL obituaries and obituary photos for future generations to discover, and cherish, FAG has a rule to the contrary. FAG is the host and I respect its rules. Some of my memorials have obits and I am deleting them as I find them.
In an effort to avoid offending other contributors I do not add photos to memorials created minus pictures, until at least 3 months after "creation", without requesting prior permission. Three months should be sufficient time for the creator to "finish" the memorial, if they have headstone photos. I assume all FAG contributors are here for altruistic reasons and that those with memorials without photos would appreciate assistance.
If you are adding ANYTHING to a memorial I created please let me know.
Please do not upload ADDITIONAL headstone photos to memorials I created, or manage. I maintain a record of memorials that I intend to upgrade (i.e. photos of the back, close-ups and/or photos of the area around the grave that are so important to people unable to visit the gravesite themselves) I re-visit cemeteries, when time permits. In 2012/2013 I transferred many memorials to individuals who were not, in any way, related to the deceased. I also update photos on these memorials. If this is a problem please feel free to transfer the memorial back to me.
Please remember volunteers spend countless hours photographing/creating memorials and appreciate knowing their efforts are appreciated. I know I do.

Sorry. I have a tree on ancestry.ca and would like to post the pictures of the headstones to their file. I find them useful to use as a record. I will say where they came from.
Thank-you for the transfers of the McCutcheons.
You have posted some pictures of their headstones on the site. Can I use those pictures?

Hi Bear Hugs,
I am indebted to you for taking the time to achieve this photo for me.
Such a brave young lad as a Dambuster in May 1943, John survived the war, started a family and died in a plane crash all too young.

Thank you for filling in another piece of my family tree. Cliff Carson, Oakville, Ontario
Thank you for taking this photograph.
all the best,
|Brian||Shirley Ramsay and Family|
I called the cemetery this afternoon about Shirley Ramsay and they confirmed she was in the Christus section space 99 D4. Also I have a copy of her obituary that lists interment at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Not sure why they are telling you something different.
Anyways thanks for the photos of the graves of her sons Kenneth, David, and father Charles.
