Hi there. I saw you left flowers on the memorials for Elias, Evelyn, Forbes and Wilhemina Ballard. Are you a family member or friend of these people? If so I will transfer the memorials to you as they are not related to me. Thanks. Have a nice day!

I saw that you left a floral tribute on this memorial stating that you were a 2nd great niece. Can you tell me how you are related? He was my 3rd great grandfather.

Thank you, I will look forward to hearing from you. Georgie Ann

Hi Karen, I have been researching our Hankins tree for over 30 years. Another researcher sent me to Centerton Cemetery to look at a possibility of a Hankins buried there might be who I am looking for. In my quest for Mary Elizabeth Hankins m 1) Julian Bedford Pequette 2) Mr. Williams, she was born 26 May 1856 Garden Grove, Iowa and died 18 Jan 1921.
The date of the Mary Hankins in Ind is so close to the data I have perhaps she went back to her maiden name but my instincts tell me this isn't so. However, I pulled up all Hankins in this cem. to search their trees. I see where Maragaret Hankins Forbes Kinkendoll is your grandmother and buried their.
Is this Mary E. Hankins kin to your tree? Who are Margaret's parents?
I Have a vast Hankins tree in Indiana I am still connecting for our Hankins book and would like to correspond with you. Our Hankins left Lawrence Co Ohio around 1830 into Madison and Henry and Delaware Co. My direct line went into Iowa while others stayed in Indiana.
How close is Morgan county to Madison Co Ind.?
Trying to be exactly correct on all of my research.
Georgie Ann Hankins Waddell

Hi Karen, I made the edits to Betty Jean's memorial. Have a good day
|Kathy Phelan||Alice Swisher|
Can you give me any info on Alice Swisher buried in Hilldale Cemetery?
I'm still trying to track down the Swishers. You might want to look at the listing for Henry Swisher in Highland Cemetery in Morgan Co. A Find A Grave friend found Henry and Hester Guy Swisher's marriage record. They were the parents of my great grandmother and Thomas James Swisher as well.
I still believe all the Swishers are in Morgan County - somewhere!!!

Karen - I just send a long, long message. I got a note back telling me it was being reviewed. I've never had this response before. Let me know if the message does or doesn't get to you.

I'm going to try this again. I am thrilled to be in touch with my Swisher relatives. I have not had a great deal of success in locating any of great grandma's family due to the fact it was so long ago. Great grandma & her twin, John Wesley were born in 1866 so info is sketchy. I was surprised to learn there were so many of them. I suspect by the time Malissa came into the world most had left home.
I have 5 brothers and I'm the only red head. The only place the red hair showed up was when one or more of the brothers decided to grow a beard. Since Phelan is Irish, most people figured the red hair was thru my Irish roots, but I knew it was my German ancestry. I have two cousins who have little or no Irish roots and they have red hair. Swisher trait!!
My mother is 88 and she is the one who spent the most time with my great grandmother, Malissa. She spent many of her summer vacation on the farm in Monroe Co. We knew Malissa had a twin, but one one ever met him. I have met one of his great grandchildren, but they didn't know much about him either. Apparently, while he was out looking for work, his wife and children were in Indianapolis. While here, she died and the 3 kids were "farmed" out to friends. When he returned, he never reclaimed the kids. He left them with the families they were "farmed" out to live. I looked for him for a long time and just by chance discovered he was buried next to his sister in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. No stone. Go figure. Great grandma died before I was born, however I remember Great grandpa Sam McCoy. He lived with my grandmother until he died. I was 9 when he died and I remember his funeral like it was yesterday.
My grandmother was the only girl and the youngest. Her brothers were: Oscar, Orvel, Lon and John Henry. Oscar died in 1947 so I do not remember him, but I remember his wife, Nancy. I met Orvel once when he traveled here to see my grandmother and while here, he died. Lon moved to Arizona and never returned to Indy. Uncle Bo or John Henry - him I knew quite well. He was more fun. All my aunts loved him too. He was married to Mary Smith who probably was wife #2. I think he may have been married to a Ruth Downs.
I'd be happy to supply you with dates, etc. I have been researching the families for over 30 years. Presently, my focus has been on the McCoys of Unionville. The McCoys are related to just about every family in the Monroe area - some more than once. There are a few Swishers that married into the Robertson line. Some of the related families are: Baugh, Deckard, Gray, Chitwood, Young, Fritch, Fielder, Robertson, Richardson, Fleener, McClary/McLary - just to name a few. Its unbelievable.
Here is what I have as the siblings of my great grandmother: Sarah Jane, Thomas James, Martha C., Lucinda J., Mary E., Stella, Rebecca, John Wesley, Malissa Elizabeth, William and Wallace. I'm not real sure about Wallace. William/Wallace may be the same person.
I would love to know more.
By the way, I live in Beech Grove, IN.
