In the spring of 2010, I became interested in finding out more about my father's family. My g-g-g-g grandfather, John P Lyle, settled in Paulding Co, Georgia, sometime before 1840. It is thought that he received land in the 1832 land lottery of the Cherokee lands. I worked on the LYLE family tree and then started looking for the graves of my extended family. I spend the majority of my time looking for graves in Paulding County and the counties that surround Paulding, such as Haralson, Polk, Bartow, Carroll, Cobb and Cherokee. Now that I am a retired teacher, I have found this to be a great way to fill in those extra hours I now have in my life. |
I have to give credit to my brother, Tom 'CC' Lyle, and to my 1st cousin once removed, Dianne Eberhardt, for allowing me to use a lot of their genealogy research information in several of my FAG memorials.

|Barbara||Mary Watts Blythe|
She had a daughter, Mattie (?) according to 1900 census who may have corresponded with my grandmother. Also, I believe have something from C. W. Blythe. If these are relatives of yours, please let me know. Barbara

|James Hardy||Eld. Henry M. Hayes|
Sandy, you added the WWI draft registration to the Find-A-Grave page for my maternal grandfather, Henry M. Hayes. You asked about his middle name. He had two middle names. His full name was Henry Marson Monroe Hayes. Surely there was a story or reason for the two middle names, but I was never aware of the background. His first wife was Nellie Vianne Sorrells, my maternal grandmother. She had a younger sister named Clara Sorrells, who married a man whose last name was Lyle. Are you descended from Clara Sorrells Lyle? (My maternal grandmother Nellie Sorrells Hayes is buried at High Shoals Cemetery in Paulding County, GA)

Thanks, Sandy, for your prompt response. I noticed that you are researching the Lyle families in GA. I have done some research on Dilmus Lyle (1774-1847), who married Katherine (Katherina) Reed/Reid, daughter of George Reed/Reid and his wife, Katherine Margaret Chambers. The father of this Dilmus was Maher Shallal Hashbaz Lyle (1737-1814), who fought in the American Revolution. This family is buried in the Lyle Cemetery in Jackson Co., GA.

Are you related to the Roberts family? I am a Roberts descendant. I went ahead and added Carroll Co., GA, per your request, to David Parks Roberts' memorial. I didn't have this information. I do know that his parents lived in Jackson Co., GA prior to moving to Cleburne Co., AL.
|Craig Burnes||Question for you|

|Barbara Tynes Claiborne||Cemetery Stomp in Georgia|
Sandy, Jefferson Lyle Claiborne died July 2014 here at home. Before he died, we got to know two long lost Lyle cousins from Albert Sidney Lyle and were astonished at their common interests in racing, automobile mechanics, airplane mechanics - all traits descended from the blacksmithing of Jefferson Young Lyle. Vern Lyle was once SCCA champ - built his own Porsche cars. James Lyle from Warner Robbins and his wife Joy came up to Tennessee twice but Vern Lyle now in Florida missed the trip to the Confederate Cemetery in Chattanooga. We are planning a visit to Maher S H Lyle's grave in Jackson County this October and they mentioned inviting you - our expert. Then he said we ought to invite everyone! We are bringing rakes and clippers, as the cemetery was so badly maintained when I saw it last that I feared for rattlesnakes and spider bites. James also wants to see the Lyle graves in Paulding County off Gold Mine road, but that is on private property. Do you have access or information? Lyle and I tried to find the John P. Lyle graves in Eldridge, Alabama but think a coal mine is now on the property. Just love all the work you have done llnking and uniting the Lyle family. Barbara Tynes Claiborne
