|In 2009, I began documenting and photographing the graves at Mt. Elliott Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in Detroit. There are an estimated 75,000 to 100,000 people buried at Mt. Elliott and while my efforts will not document everyone, I am trying to do my part to memorialize those who are buried there. If you have a correction, addition, relationship link or biographical information to add to one of my memorials, please click on the edit tab and choose the Suggest a Correction option. I will do my best to make changes as soon as possible.|
If you are requesting a photograph of a grave at Mt. Elliott and the memorial does not have the plot information, please call Mt. Olivet Cemetery at (313) 365-5650 and get the information, then post that information with your request. The cemetery is simply too large to locate a grave without the plot information.
Please DO NOT post a duplicate gravestone photograph to the memorials that I have created or manage. There is no need for you to duplicate a picture of a stone I already have photographed.

Thank you so much for the headstone photos and information regarding the Olbrich family. I appreciate your good work.

Per find-a-grave, Howards marker indicates a birth year of 1875, however, the birth date reflects a June 3, 1874 date.
If you can verify which is correct, I would appreciate it.
Thanks for all the hard work and dedication.

Thanks for trying. John K.
I'm sorry for my error. I'm working with about 235 memorials of firefighters and I make some mistakes. The site being down led to me not realizing I had done some of the men previously.

Thank you for taking their grave photos. Your pictures really complete the memorials for these two duty-death fireman. You can't believe how many firefighters die on duty in any given year. I invite you to visit some of their colleagues in my virtual cemetery, "We go running in."
I'm struggling to photo a small cemetery near my home and it only has 3,000 graves. I'm really in awe of your ambition. Mt. Elliott is huge. Visually recording it could be a lifetime's accomplishment.
