NEIL ARMSTRONG

"Geologists have a saying: rocks remember."

1930 ~ 2012

For his final task on the Moon,
Neil left a small package filled with items memorializing previously deceased pioneers in space exploration, including Soviet cosmonauts Yuri Gagarin and Vladimir Komarov, and Apollo 1 astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White and Roger Chaffee.

Now it's Neil's turn, and our turn to memorialize him.

His family released the following statement:

"For those who may ask what they can do to honor Neil, we have a simple request. Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink."

Capt Peter John Nathaniel "Pete" Linnerooth
Thank you for sponsoring Capt. Linnerooth's memorial page. I, too, was very touched when I read the article in "Time" magazine and embarked on researching data for his memorial. As I researched, the more I learned, the sadder I felt. I'm very pleased to see all the "notes" the memorial has rec'd. Thank you again for your kindness.

Jimmie - You left a message on the memorial of George Leroy Parker, aka Butch Cassidy, about a book that his sister wrote. Is this a book that is available? You can privately message me akalou9@gmail.com.
Thanks,

Linda Davis
Thanks
Thank you for sponsoring the memorial of LeRoy E. Davis. He was the older brother of my great grandfather Alvin Perkins Davis.

While doing genealogy, I came against that priceless old photo of him in the blue uniform. Showing it to my older cousins, they became upset because it wasn't Confederate Gray! I had to explain that the photo was taken after the Mexican War... when he went to Texas along with so men of Perry County, AL. That was really funny...you should have seen their faces seeing the Union blue uniform!!!

If you love history, you may find interesting the book about the Perry County Voluteers fighting in the Mexican War. It was basic on a diary written by one of the officers and mention many of the men by name.

Leroy's brother Lewis did return to TX after the Civil War...Robertson County. And, a NY man who fought with them in TX came back to AL and married their sisters.

Hi there,

My grandmother's maiden name was Beck (Lola Mary Beck Tyler). Her father was William Beck and his father was Henry Beck who was an Indian agent over in the Lakeview area. William Beck went by Billy or Pony. He had some brothers.

We've been looking for his father's grave.

Also there's a Henry and Sarah Beck buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Yreka, CA Born in around 1815. Any relation to you?
