Wednesday, January 7, 2015 - traveling - will respond to messages, edits and other requests as time permits.|
I no longer make changes, additions, transfers from messages left on my contributor page. Please follow FindAGrave procedures by using the Edit tab on the memorial page to request changes, additions, request transfers, etc.
Thank you for following FindAGrave procedures.
Contributor Connie posted this. I thought it was such a great idea I posted it to my page! Thanks, Connie!
Find a Grave has implemented a new way to submit Edits! Unfortunately, there are far too many members for Find a Grave to notify everyone via email, so it's up to us to get the word out. If every member posts this message (or similar) in their profile, hopefully we can help spread the word.
To suggest a correction (SAC) click on the edit tab of the memorial that needs to be corrected. Then click on the link which best describes where your edit should occur. Enter your correction, when you're done, click submit edit. Your request will be sent to the manager of the memorial and will appear in the managers' profile under the Edits tab.
Managers will no longer receive emails. They must go directly to their profile page and click on the Edits tab. Managers can approve, deny or ignore, suggested corrections. It's quick and easy!
Requesting a transfer other corrections are still handled the same way. Click on "suggest any other correction or addition," type your message and press "send this message." The manager of the memorial will receive an email.
Please ask permission before posting my personal family photographs, photographs I have taken of grave stones or biographical material I have written from my memorial pages on this site to Ancestry.com or any other website or personal webpages.
Please see FindAGrave Frequently Asked questions for more information:
How do I get a relative's memorial transferred to me?
First, Determine if you really need the memorial transferred to you for management. Transferring of management should only be requested If you have extensive changes to make to a memorial. You can add photos and suggest corrections without having to request management. Simply having someone in your family tree is not grounds for a management transfer request. With hundreds of thousands of contributors, we have many overlapping family trees and it would be impossible for all contributors to manage their entire tree.
Many thanks to everyone who has contributed information and photos for my memorials. I usually link to the individual contributor using HTML code. If this is unacceptable to you just let me know you prefer to remain anonymous.

Hello again -- I'm sorry that my former message sounds a little abrupt -- I didn't mean it to be. I do appreciate receiving your new information. It caused me to do some additional research, and I've been able to find a couple of tidbits on her husband that I didn't know about before; so that does help. You mentioned a 10 Feb 1900 article in the Washington Post regard Mary Augusta -- how do I find that article? Thank you. Bill S.

Hi -- who are you? that info you sent seems very doubtful. You cite no specific source -- Do you have more evidence?
|Jennifer ||RE: Frederick Goldsborough|
Hello and thank you for the update. I know with research we can't always assume, however his wife and three children are all buried in the same cemetary. I will do more research regarding the other burial you made mention of. His son is #30628920 in the same cemetary. I sent an edit request, but have not heard back regarding this update.

Sorry, I can't locate any data I may have used to link Edith to 99759811. It would be impossible, as he died 6 years before Edith was born.

|JDeLauche||Manuel Joaquim Gonsalves & Wives|
First I want to thank you for establishing the Find A Grave memorials for Manuel Joaquim Gonsalves, his first wife, Sarah Beach Gonsalves, and his second wife, Harriet N. Gonzalves.
I have posted some edits for the memorial for Harriet N. Gonsalves - her maiden name: Henshaw; her date and location of death.
I am not a direct descendant of Manuel Joaquim Gonsalves, Sarah Beach Gonsalves, or Harriet N. Henshaw Gonsalves. The youngest son of Manuel and his first wife, Sarah, Mortimer D. Gonzales (he must have finally given up on correcting others regarding his correct surname: Gonsalves - I currently manage the Find A Grave memorial for Mortimer), married a woman in one of my family lines, which is why I was drawn into researching the Gonsalves family.
I have found many records for Manuel and his family where the surname is mis-spelled or mis-transcribed as "Gonzales."
In fact, I recently found a September 1885 newspaper notice of the death of Manuel and his second wife in which the surname is given as "Gonzales." I have saved the clipped newspaper notice as a JPEG image.
If you wish, I can add the image of the newspaper death notice for "Manuel J. Gonzales" and his wife, Harriet, to their Find A Grave memorials. Plus, I can provide you with more biographical info on Manuel, if you wish. He was a Baptist minister, a naturalized US citizen, who was a major player in helping a large group of Protestant exiles from Madeira settle in Illinois in 1849, for one thing.
I don't wish to be presumptive and add any photo image without your agreement first. Please let me know what you would prefer, if anything.
So far, I haven't been able to determine if Manuel and his first wife Sarah have any surviving direct descendants. Are you perhaps a direct descendant? I am in contact with a direct descendant of a brother of Manuel Joaquim Gonsalves, though.
Again, thank you for your work.
Best wishes -
Jean E. DeLauche

Corrections have been done. Thank you for update!:)
I have noticed your initials on several of my family members and just wondered who you were and if we might be related? Could you please let me know if we are related through the Simpson line?
Tired of trying to maintain my family memorials. I finally just deleted them all including this one. Have all the fun you want. The genealogical info I could have shared is gone. V. Abernathy.

Nope, that's the one I have. I've sunk most of my time and energy into Rock Creek and Congressional (actually got a book about Holmead's Burying Ground for Christmas--helps with the folks they moved when Holmead's was closed), with the occasional smaller local cemetery when I have only a couple of hours to work with. However, with Congressional's archives gone for the moment, I dragged up the old Evening Star archives to look for Congressional folks, and have wound up sort of looking at and for everyone I come across. Because staying on task is for wimps.
I've been told that Oak Hill has a bit of a photography prohibition? Glad I didn't know that the two times I went!
Thank you for including the memorial number in your message! I'm off to look at the memorials you posted!
