Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born and raised in Atlanta, but have lived most of my adulthood in Charlotte, North Carolina. Coincidentally I ended up right where my roots are on my father's side of the family. Genealogy is my passion and I never met a cemetery I didn't like. I'm also into historic preservation, both of buildings and the lives of people no longer with us.

As the daughter of a general and great-granddaughter of 3 Confederate veterans, I like to note military records of veterans on their findagrave memorials.

I welcome corrections/additions, but will no longer link to a "burial unknown" person. I have found this leads to duplicates.

FAMILIES ON MY FATHER'S SIDE: Irwin, DeWeese, Blackwelder, Babcock, Taylor, Wilbon.

FAMILIES ON MY MOTHER'S SIDE: Bryan, Battle, Pope, Atkinson, Yarbrough, Chappell.

Robert Lee Hartsell # 130103306
I want to commend you, Susan I. Gills for all your work on Find A Grave. They have been very valuable to me in doing my family history research. I appreciate your work very much and the others like you. May God bless you in your work.
I think you have two different Robert Lee Hartsell's in this Find A Grave. Apparently there were two.
1. Robert Lee Hartsell born in Cabarrus County, North Carolina on August 14, 1895 to John Hartsell and Tiny Elizabeth Hartsell both born in North Carolina. He married Annie Lawing. He died October 28, 1947 in Durham, North Carolina per your post, and buried on October 29, 1947 in Carolina Memorial Park in Concord, North Carolina. All of this is on his Death Certificate that is on ancestry.com. And the children you have listed are on the Census with these parents. Also there is a Marriage of Robert L. Hartsell (original as Hartzor but was changed ) and Annie Lawing in Gaston County, North Carolina on May 31, 1914 his parents are also John and Tiny Hartsell, but spell Hartzor.
2. Robert Lee Hartsell born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina on November 14, 1898 to Victor Jiles Hartsell and Rosean Napolean Palmes. There is a Social Security Death Index for a Robert L Hartsell with this birth date that died March 1974 in Lindenwold, Camden County, New Jersey, his SSN was issued before 1951 in New Jersey. There is a 1920 Census in Brooklyn, Assembly District 1, Kings, New York; United States Receiving Ship at New York. has a Robert L. Hartsell, age 21, born about 1899 in North Carolina, Single, Father and Mother born in North Carolina; Occupation Seaman, Industry Federal Service. I did not find a 1930 Census. There is a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Marriage Index 1885-1951 for Robert L. Hartsell Married Edna E. Ernst in 1931 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. License # 598522 Digital GUS # 4141730. There is also a 1940 Census in Camden County, New Jersey with a Robert L. Hartsell and family, born in North Carolina, age 42 born about 1898 with wife, Edna E age 33 born in Pennsylvania and two daughters, Joan F. age 6 born in New Jersey and Edna E age 4 also born in New Jersey. His occupation is a Warehouseman.
Thanks again for all your work.

Earle Talmadge Crowe Jr.
I am trying to find Earle Talmadge Crowe Jr, which believe he was called "Sonny". He lived in Charlotte and at one point moved to Gainesville GA to work at Riverside Military Academy and then returned to Charlotte. I believe his wife was named Claire. Do you have any information about his sister or his children. I am related on the Crowe Side. My great-grandmother, Columbia Lee Crowe Deaton was a sister to Earle Talmadge Crowe Sr. Thanks so much.

Photo deleted.
Thanks for pointing that out Susan.
Good Catch!
Very confusing with those two James Boyes's dying 10 days apart and buried in the same cemetery. I imagine they were family, but I don't know how they related. (Oh, that poor family.)

Honbarger's of North Carolina
Hi, Susan, I found the Find A Grave memorial for a Luther Honbarger, son of John V. Honbarger, and I'm wondering if he had a brother or half brother named Harlan Vasco "Bill" Honbarger? I don't know if you are related or just created the memorial site doing your volunteer work? I am trying to find any relatives/children of Harlan...I believe my mother may have been married to him in the early 1940s before she married my father. I can find several marriage and divorce records for this Harlan V. Honbarger but none list my mother, Della. If you have any information, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, LLaPage

I added a note-that I needed proof.
I always require proof of a change.
We don't have any choices of the first line- so I used the closest to what I wanted, and on the line under it- I ask for proof.

I will be glad to change it or add to it-or whatever- but require proof.

(Census records, death record or whatever)

Thank you for posting Farr information. This is my mom's line, and I'm too far away (mile-wise) to have taken photos for myself. Thank you again!
