RE: Abraham F Royer
You made my day. I'm happy dancing with you. i visited your memorial and now know what a courageous man he was. Please know that his grave is located in a small town out in the country. The cemetery is surrounded by fields and farmland and is very well maintained. The next time I'm out that way I'll stop by and tell him how happy you are. I believe when we talk to the dead they hear us. So he will know he will always be remembered.

I have a 1st cousin 3x removed who fought with the 3rd Tennessee on the Union side. He was taken prisoner and spent 7 months in Cahaba prison in Alabama only to be released and died when the Sultana exploded along with 2000 prisoners who were on their way home. In July I visited the grounds where the prison stood and cried like a baby for him and all the 3500 prisoners who were held on one third of an acre. I cannot go to a cemetery to fulfill a request and not photograph the military graves. I'm so pleased you have made the quest for him and he is home with his family.

Thanks so much for the transfers! I have also had computer issues and have been traveling so I apologize for the late response. I appreciate your diligence in maintaining the site in the past and hope I will do it justice going forward =)

RE: Jerome Waterman
I'll get to working on the other things, but quickly just wanted to say I am sure you know the LDS site Sometimes I can find things there that can't be found elsewhere, and the mystery of Doreen might get help there.
Yes Dora is buried with Henry Helinger and his wife Mary and another family member whose name I can't recall at the Sunset Cemetery in Bozeman. I have been there a couple of times and the funny thing is, the staff there told me there are several available plots for any family members if someone wanted to use one! I asked how would I prove I'm a (distant) family member and they said, just say so!
(things out West are kind of laid back sometimes)

RE: Jerome Waterman
Chris I haven't done any research on the Watermans because they are related to me by marriage only, and distantly at that. Pearl Ellis said she would like to connect with you but she'll be away for a few weeks. Hopefully she'll know the answers to your questions. Her gr-grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Sales Hellinger, sister of Dora Waterman.
Give me a few days to get things together online, etc. and with my tree and I will get back to you with the tree invitation and her email address.
And I will look in that old scrapbook I have and see if anything in there pertaining to Waterman.
If you send your mailing address, I would be glad to mail you the "original" (a good, glossy copy) of the Fred Waterman photo, one of the many photos I received from Pearl. There's no point in me keeping these folks who aren't really my ancestors. A lot of them aren't identified and they might be Watermans but I can't tell and she didn't know, either. This is the only one marked as a Waterman photo.

RE: Jerome Waterman
good to hear from you! Like you I am not directly related to the very well-known (at least in Bonzeman vicinity) Sales family, which was Dora Waterman's maiden name. My great great uncle married another of the Sales daugters, Mary Elizabeth (Dora's sister).
I have a photo of Fred Waterman, a child, who I think must be child of Jerome and Dora? If so I will be glad to send you a copy.
Also I have an old scrapbook belonging to Mary Sales which probably mentions Jerome, her brother-in-law, in it somewhere. I will check on that.
I have found much information on the Sales family through another distant relative named Pearl Ellis who lives in California; we met online, too. Pearl supplied me with photos.
I have not researched the extended Sales family; they had many children, spouses, etc. and since I am only related by marriage, I have not done that.
Pearl Ellis, however, is directly descended from the Sales family through her mother's line and she might have info on Jerome.
I have an online tree on if you want me to invite you to see it, send me your email. As I say, though, I haven't delved into the Sales family or their extended family through marriage very much.
Dora Sales Waterman is buried in the plot owned by my great great uncle, Henry Hellinger. I guess I mentioned that we visited the plot last year in the Bozeman cemetery.
She died young and I guess had young children and I suppose that's why her husband remarried soon.
Do you live in Bozeman area?
I will contact Pearl Ellis and put you in touch with her if she agrees, if you send me your email address.

Thanks for the corrections. Thomas Powell is my husband's 7x great grandfather. If you'd like to transfer maintenance to me I'd be honored but per findagrave "rules" it isn't a necessity. Thanks so much for maintaining the sites for him and the relatives---your information has been invaluable =)
